What the hell did Colten Brewer do on the IL to come back out of the gate throwing so much harder?

Francisco Alvarez is really impressive. They’re losing but the Mets seem pretty good? I still think they’re more likely to trade for a SP and RP (Anderson and Estevez with the Angels?) than bail out. Rebuilds are very 2010s anyway, plenty of money to be made as even a nominal contender in a capped system with more public funding flowing in and 400+ available playoff spots

If you are talking about what you think the Cubs will do at the deadline, I completely agree. An innings eating starting pitcher and a possible closer is exactly what I expect from them. Nothing too costly.

I was just looking ahead to the Giants series and the pitching matchups are really forgiving.  No Webb, and Blake Snell and Robbie Ray are still rehabbing (both pitch at AAA tomorrow so for sure out through the Cubs series).  It's basically Jordan Hicks and three bullpen/opener type games like Wednesday.  You should never expect 3/4 on a West Coast series against a solid team, but it feels much more reasonable than it would under most circumstances.  About time the scheduling gods throw us a bone this season.

I was just thinking the other day.  That's a guy I'd trade Horton + for in a heartbeat.  He really is that special and something that I think should interest both teams, the Mets don't have a lot of pitching but they have a new GM that really wants young pitching

Jameson Taillon so far in June:

24 IP, 4 BB, 24 K, 3 HR, 3.00 ERA, 3.79 xFIP

I do not expect the team to end up selling, but if they end up doing so and Jameson can stay on this heater for another month it shouldn't be hard to dump his contract.

Amaya is probably one of the 5 worse big league players right now.  Every time that punk scrub hits a ball out of the infield it feels like a human accomplishment like going to the moon
