This is just like last year where Jed has to trade someone to get our manager to stop playing him. Counsell has to be better than this, but he’s clearly not.

Who is the alternative that Jed is giving him?  Are we ready for another Mastrobuoni run?  This roster is no good.

The bullpen is crap and it won’t get better.  It’s not a crapshoot.  They suck.

Counsell has a long term record of success as a manager and Jed doesn’t as a GM.

Last year's record means nothing.  Bottom line, this team is sooooo much better than a .500 ball club.  Yet they are .500 and playing like they belong being the doormat of the division.

They're basically the same players as last year, so mirroring pretty much what they did last season isnt much of a surprise

It doesn’t take a fortune to put together a decent bullpen.  Jed failed at it this year, and last year.  I’m ready to move on.

No need to watch tomorrow's game.  Here is the breakdown.  Tight game, winnable for the Cubs going into the late innings and the defense, bullpen, and lack of offense lose it.  Cubs 0-2 for the series with the Brewers.

I hope I have to eat my words after tomorrow's game, but as this game drags on now....I just don't know.  I really want to fly my W flag damn it!

Right, I blame Jed for the crap roster before I would blame CC for playing the guys he has.

I'd blame the players for their performance before I'd blame CC

Agreed.  It’s the same team including the horrible pen.

Jed is not freaking going anywhere, there’s no sense in trying to get your hopes up for that. He’s exactly what Tom wants in a GM

I'm not going to say what I want to say about this team because I'm sure someone would come in with stats about the 21 Braves or the 19 Nationals putting up offensive stink bombs like this for an entire month, but it's really hard to see a way out of this right now.

We gonna see another fake rally where they finally score a couple runs here and leave the tying run on deck. 🙄🙄

Correct.

That was an almost certain DP Madrigal booted, if he's not going to hit, he's a waste of a roster spot.  Does he have any options left?

100%. I doubt his seat is anywhere near warm

If only we didn’t blow 7 different games in the first 2 months where we held a late lead, we’d still be in decent shape

No I’m pretty sure this is beyond run of the mill offensive slumping for a team that thinks of themselves as competing. It doesn’t mean that they can’t fight their way out of it and be good, but I’m pretty sure the length and depth of this slump is longer and larger than normal ebbs and flows

Most likely  ..

He has 1 more year left on his contract,  so he will likely be back but him getting another extension will depend on this and next season outcome.

Although it’s incredible to get yet another story of Morel being a great guy, who is always smiling. I would also love him to hit the baseball for base hits. That would be even better.

Does it matter ?

Seriously he's no loss if they just released him.

Is it a hitting philosophy thing or a poor talent acquisition thing? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a team with this low of a cumulative BA ever.
