I thnk if Nico or Dansby ever had to miss more than a few games in a row, you'd probably see Vazquez up and starting the majority of the time. But I think otherwise they are currently prioritizing getting Vazquez every day ABs over whatever he might incrementally add as a (round numbers here) .300 wRC guy vs Madrigal as a .270 wRC guy.

Just noticed 4 clean outs from Adbert. Would like to see some Ks but good to see him still attacking the zone and hopefully getting some confidence that not every time a pitch touches a bat it ends up over the fence.

funny enough, he's only at .285/.310/.357 against the Cubs this year, including today

Day offs are good and we're going to need all the rested arms we can get going into Jones/Skenes and then Atlanta. 

Days off are being 1 hit in a day game to lose a home series are very annoying.

Things got difficult in a hurry here for a team that’s 6 over . Jones / Skenes / Braves then most likely Jones / Skenes again and Braves .  Pitching staff will need to carry them most likely here . Wouldn’t expect a lot of offense

This teams lack of a bonafide superstar player is what I feel like most holds them back. Hoyer still seems to have that weird misconception that a team can be successful with a bunch of meh guys. They need a superstar like Soto or Ohtani, too bad neither player were available this past offseason.

Both of those guys were on teams last year that basically sucked. If the bullpen was performing at an average level, the Cubs would be all alone in first place without three of their best players for a significant portion of the season.
