Counsell is playing with the hand he’s been dealt. Taking Wicks out was the right move. The problem is, all of our middle inning guys, outside of Smyly who pitched almost three innings yesterday, have a tendency to lose the plate.

I'm going to blame Windstream Internet in Lexington Kentucky for being real horsefeathers slow and pretend I had the thought first 🤣

But damn, we had the same thought! I just live in a sheltered world where only I could have a thought. Damn you @Bertz for thinking like a smart kinda guy.

Ditch Windstream and get Metronet. Much more reliable and faster around here. Windstream is a dirty word in Lexington. Even Spectrum is better.

I refuse to give Spectrum another penny. Those guys are the *worst*. I've had many a battle with them. As weak as Windstream can be, it ain't Spectrum!

But yeah, Metronet is the next switch. Only just got access to it in my area, and just finished my introductory on Windstream.

That's fine, but then when are you going to use Cuas to begin with? It's the mid-portion of the game, you *dont* have the bases loaded, and you have a hitter who is far worst against RHP. As I said in another post, this is the *exact* situation you have Cuas for, someone who is a designed righty-killer.

We can ask a bigger question of "is Cuas the guy you want in that role?" But once you make the choice to roster Cuas...this is when you are going to use him.

Yeah, it’s a macro roster construction issue, not today’s in-game decision specifically, that bothers me.

2 seconds before the last pitch was thrown I thought to myself "well at least we have Happ up and he probably won't chase at a terrible pitch to end the game".  Whoops.

That was the worst ball-strike performance I've seen from a home plate umpire in quite some time.

Really seemed like the borderline calls inordinately hurt the Cubs today

Good thing he took Wicks out, 🙄

He was at 100 pitches.

Wicks matched Yamamoto against the Dodgers lineup, fantastic start for him.  Can't stand how inconsistent Cuas is his release.  He just seems so sloppy.  Wouldn't be thrilled with him coming in with guys already on.

Mastrobuoni is a bad ballplayer.  Hurry up Shaw so we can get this guy off the team.

Doesn’t have to be Shaw. If Counsel feels the same about Mastro as you do they can send him down when Wisdom is activated.

The injuries to the rotation not only hurt the rotation, they hurt the pen. My guess is with Taillon and Steele in the rotation Assad gets those 5th and 6th innings in games, not Cuas or Almonte.

Not a bad idea.  Morel could be backup at SS along with Nico.  Ideally I don't want Wisdom to replace Cooper though.

Agree.  So if Steele and Taillon are back who gets sent down or cut?  Probably Brown to stay stretched out in Iowa.  And Little?  That would be a shame.

I don't have Twitter or Instagram, so I can't check the ump scorecard people. But I'd love for somebody to post that one here.

That pretty much my hope, as I'm hoping Brown, Little, and Assad stays in the pen although I can see Brown returning to Iowa

Why not Cuas?
