Yes, but I have a feeling we might see Mervis again at some point.

He's hit the ball really hard and has a 20% walk rate so far this year. Obviously expectations are raised if he's going to max out defensively as a first baseman. But everything beneath the hood still looks good.

I don't know how anyone could watch the last 4 games and not be more encouraged by Busch than they were coming into the year.  He's looked phenomenal IMO.

do you think when the cubs get a lead counsell hide's morel's glove like you do with a football player's helmet after he takes a shot to the head?

Didn’t you just tell me Morel only played 3 games at 3rd. As if to say way too early to decide he can’t play 3rd. And now you have a feeling we will see Mervis again because Busch is struggling after 3 games? I think it is far more likely Morel becomes the everyday DH than Mervis takes the place of Busch.

At a certain point, it's logical for people to look at a player and want to see results, rather than just process.

Of course, we are just four games into the season. So those wringing their hands at this point are massively overreacting.

Didn't say I didn't like him, I actually agreed and said yes.

Just part of me thinks they might give Mervis another look at some point this season if Busch struggle continues into May, they might consider sending him down til he gets his swing going.

So Smyly's in the game. So...uh...who's starting for Steele?

I believe Henry Rowengarter may be available.

My money says Smyly is an opener then Brown comes in

It annoys me when players do that. We had a nice rally going, I wanted more. Being in scoring position is good enough IMO.

I don't mind the aggressiveness given the inning, score, and wind blowing in.

I mean...maybe. But it's like...4 games into the season. The Cubs have shown:

1. They really like Busch, they traded Ferris for him, a highly regarded prospect, and Hope, who they paid over 11th round value for in the draft

2. They don't really like Mervis. They've replaced him and skipped over him again and again.

3. Busch's processes have looked really good.

4. It's four games, man.

So yeah, like, maybe? But also, probably not. There's really no reason to even bring it up yet. It's April 1st.

Anything is possible. They might consider this with a handful of players if they struggle. But there is no struggle going on and we are playing our 4th game.

Did I say anything negative about Busch ?

No, I just said we might see Mervis again  later in season and then I said we might see him get another opportunity and especially IF Busch is struggling come May..

Big  Big difference there
