Opening day is here vs the defending World Series Champs.

Since 1876 the Cubs opening day record is 83-63-2 but since 2000 they are 10-14. The Cubs and Rangers met in 2019 on opening day, winning 12-4

Let's end this season with World Series Championship #4

This is also on ESPN

It's actually only on ESPN. Marquee isn't airing this one.

Me, trying to plan the next four days out to maximize baseball and basketball watching while my wife is focused on easter baskets and egg hunts and what kind of food to make for the weekend:

Is this going to be blacked out on the MLB app then?

It will, yes.

I saw some complaining about how weird it is the Rangers have an off day scheduled after today considering they play in a dome so there is no possibility of rainouts.

Looking at the schedule, the Cubs home opener is on Monday, with games on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Current forecast for Monday is 46 degrees with rain (rain on Tuesday too)

I think this might be because it's an interleague matchup(the only one of the week), so it can't really be a 4 gamer and they don't want to have a weekend day off.

For anyone like me who spends way too much time on Baseball Twitter, you might remember the "Would it Dong" bot.  That bot got killed When dummy cleaned out all the useful bots last summer (while ignoring the porn).

Apparently MLB built their own though and it survived the purge:

They have the "make-up day" immediately following the Rockies series. Both teams are off on Thursday, so that would be the day to make up a game, if necessary, for the two non-divisional teams.  To have an off day earlier wouldn't make sense as it's possible Monday and Tuesday have "playable" weather.

Well they usually force a day off in between the first and second game to ensure that those that bought Opening Day tickets get to attend the opening day.  I guess if logistically it didnt work out that way, that's the only thing they can do, but if Monday is rained out than the people who paid premium prices for Opening Day will attend on Thursday (if that's when its rescheduled).
