Only way I see if the deal is done now is Falcons is giving up 2nd/3rd this year or the 2nd this year and a conditional 2nd/3rd next year that would move up 1 round if Falcons make the playoffs. Like Poles knows he can’t get a better deal.

Or maybe it’s a Fields + 9th for 8th + ??? type deal?

Maybe Fields plus #9 to the Falcons for #8 and a 3rd?

Nothing earth shattering, but interesting/good to see the people in the game with a consensus similar to the public of a 2nd or a 3rd.

lol, I find this interesting:

Supposedly a former NFL scout.  I try to keep an open mind to dissenting opinions but there are some really strange arguments in there (and the linked article that goes into more detail).

The whole point of quarterbacks throwing at the Combine is to see how they respond to and work with unfamiliar receivers, as opposed to the receivers at their schools they’re previously accustomed to throwing to.

I was discussing this with my boss yesterday. I don't care about you looking amazing at a pro-day in optimal conditions; I want to see you function at a high caliber within uncomfortable environs. I wish he would participate.

Heard he really was a former scout, but former is really the operative word there.

That whole diatribe from that "former scout" would be funny if it was not pathetic.

he probably got canned because he had terrible takes on everything. My evidence is that tweet

I think it’s highly likely the Bears draft Caleb and it makes me nervous. Generational talent or not, can he read defenses in a snap and get the ball out before defenses can even react.  I don’t think that question has been answered.  Maybe it can’t be answered until he actually plays in the NFL.  He’s no slam dunk though.

Part of my nervousness is simply because I have no reason to believe the Bears can take any talented QB and coach him for success.

I'll always miss Justin. I just love the guy as a person. However, my #1 tenet in life when dealing with a challenge is Quantity is a Quality. Period. If the Bears have to go through multiple prospects in their search for THE QB, so be it. They'll get there eventually

Come on. Seriously? There’s plenty of game film for all that. Workouts with randos are no win situations for the top guys. This is not a story.

It's kind of funny how the Fields/Williams debate is looking more and more similar to the current status of our two biggest political parties. The Bears fan base is splitting right down the middle and leaning one way or the other to the extreme.

I have followed about 6 or so Bears sites on Facebook and I guess because I have so many of those, Facebook decided that I should have more showing up in my feed that I'm not subscribed to. So I have a dozen or so or more pages posting a lot of nonsense, and the comments are cringe worthy. I mean, sometimes the most reasonable comments are from the idiots wanting to give you 5 grands.

Yes.  There is no other path forward other than accepting what we have and building around it.  We’ve been down that road many times through the years.  I’m not wanting to take another trip; it’s a dead end.

Same with my FB feed. And most are pro Fields anti Caleb. Probably Russian bots lol.

I don’t know if anyone else is surprised by the pro-Fields legion that exists in Beardom but I am.  It’s probably because I haven’t seen that before.  It’s always people wanting to make a change.

I think it’s born from the absolute knee capping Poles did on him last year. They gave him nothing and he played admirably, without complaint. People feel a loyalty to the guy for gutting through it.

they’ll move on quick enough

So Caleb measured out at just over 6’1 which is great. I assumed he’d be closer to 6’0. Alleviates a lot of concern about his height, though 6’1 still seems to be slightly below average for a QB.
