He needs like 20 wins to pass Shula, I don't know if Atlanta is the right fit. Although that division is the worst in the league

He could get 20 wins in that division next season with the right QB.

I have a bad feeling the Bears admin doesn't want Harbaugh (and doesn't want to pay him). He's an egomaniac and he wants a ton of control over player personnel. It would be the Harbaugh Show - and the Bears are notoriously reticent to ever hand the keys over to someone like that.

I'd absolutely take him, of course.

Even if the Bears did want him - if the Chargers job is there...I have to imagine that's more Harbaugh's speed. They already have their QB, they have more money to throw around and I have to imagine the ownership is less of a pain to deal with (I have absolutely no idea what the Chargers ownership is like. Feel free to correct me).

I agree. He would have a hard time being overruled by a guy like Poles in player decisions. I cannot say I would blame him. If he makes the jump, he's going to go to an organization where he has more control over the operation. Not to mention the salary he will command. However, I think he's going to stay at Michigan, he's king and his personality is more suited for college football. His rah-rah stuff will get old quickly as it did in SF.

I could care less about any of that, if the Bears want to turn it around, stopped getting pounded on by Green Bay in Ginny' lifetime then bite the bullet and deal with Harbaugh.  If they want to keep meddling about and getting beat by Green bay then stick with Eberflus.

Looks like Mike Vrabel is out in Tennessee.

Wow, guess I'm not following closely enough but I thought he was considered an elite coach.  I know the results weren't there the last 2 years but as an outsider it seems like he did a lot with less.  If the Pats move on from Belichick I bet they zero in on him but if not, definitely a name I'd like the Bears to consider.

Ginny and kin care about money first, getting their dicks kicked in by GB since the late 1900's is a minor annoyance for them.

I don't think owners care one bit about that sort of thing. Dan Bernstein had a rant yesterday about the Bears' organizational expectations. Although he's kind of a douche, he's right about their expectations being way too low. But I'm also not saying that losing to Green Bay is any worse than losing to Detroit or Minnesota.

I don't think the McCaskeys care all that much about how the team does other than not being an utter embarrassment (which...they somehow have been quite a bit under their watch) and the value of the franchise rising (which it does, forever).

Doug Peterson was NOT fired, but he fired basically his entire Defensive staff - the DC. DL coach, passing game coordinator/CBs, ILB coach, S coach, Sr Defensive advisor, among others. They lost 5 of their last 6 giving up an average of almost 30 points/game.

No mention of Vrabel's firing in this thread? The biggest decisions left are if the Bears retain Eberflus and if the Raiders remove the interim tag or remove Antonio Pierce himself.

it was mentioned above. im all for the bears going for him but I think he's probably eying the NE job if Belichick leaves

Excellent, this may also signal the Bears are washing their hands of Fields.

Or they identify Getsy as the issue and not JF, we only have 4 months to debate it!

lol

It's great they fired Getsy and everything, but that's only half of the move... and I definitely don't trust Flus to make good hires after his initial staff has fully disintegrated

It wasn't all Getsy, he certainly was a problem, but, it's mainly on Fields. I guess we are only able to hope that the Bears' recognizing the badness of Getsy also means they are able to see the flaws in Fields.

Right, exactly.  His OC failed (badly) and his DC was fired for being a really bad human being.  Yet he gets to keep his job?  And this is to say nothing of the actual performance on the field.

Poles and Warren may believe that Flus was blindsided by the DC had, and Getsy had full reign of the offense therefor there was only so much he could do

or McCasckey said Keep Flus

I can't really get a feel of what keeping Flus means to the future. I have to imagine that any decent incoming new OC will want a new QB. Flus manages his defense and let's an experienced OC shape the offense.

What decent and experienced OC will want to come to Chicago and work for a HC with amazing poor success rate and try to fix a QB others have not been able to fix?

At the very least, you need an OC who you would value as an interim/replacement HC if poop hits the fan so that maybe, just maybe you don't have to create a whole new cycle.

I'd really be shocked if Fields stays. I would think the only way Fields stayed was if Getsy stayed.
