Loyola 2021 is the one that always sticks out in my head. Moser thoroughly out coached BU. There were certainly others in the past too. The Achilles heel for this year’s team is really just defense. With TJ and Hawkins, a mobile big-bodied big in Dainja, and a high motor player in Rodgers, defense shouldn’t really be an issue. But as a team, they disappear for long stretches.

Yeah, where they tend to struggle is with close outs where they don't go hard enough and allow easy shots or when there's a lack of communication on a switch and someone ends up completely uncovered.  It's 100% related to intensity and sometimes they just don't have it, then it all of a sudden shows up for a 10 minute spurt, they catch up  and take the lead and the game is over.  Unfortunately, that doesn't work against really good teams like Purdue and Tennessee as we've seen already this year.

They are so bad at defending against screens. It’s extremely frustrating to watch.

I don't think I've ever seen a basketball team look more inept than the Bagers thus far. 12 turnovers and at least 8 missed LAY UPS. And the first half isn't over. ...make that 13 turnovers.

Think they're gassed from the Big Ten tournament, they gave it all they had.  Not to take away from JMU, they've played great, we'll see what they can do against Duke.  Guess I was a bit ambitious still, 4-2 isn't too bad for the Big Ten.

Eh. JMU played fine, I guess. I think Duke obliterates them. That was a really really ugly game.

JMU was allowed to be awfully physical. That said, I'm 100% ok with an early exit for the Badgers

JMU deserves a ton of credit. Their defense was relentless. Active hands on every play. 14 steals. Wisconsin looked out of sync on offense all game but JMU’s aggressiveness was a huge factor.

Think the Illini have a good chance to break the seal on getting to the second weekend.  That said, I'm certain Duquesne will come out on fire hitting everything making Illini fans nervous.

It certainly is.  Iowa St. will be tough, but that one is a toss-up at worst.  After that, UConn would be extremely tough, and I don't see anyone else in the bracket who is capable of knocking them off.

19 horsefeathers years in between Sweet Sixteens. I was a senior in high school and had just decided to attend Illinois before their run to the finals in ‘05. Never in my wildest 17-year-old dreams would I have thought they wouldn’t make it through the first weekend again for nearly two decades. Feels good.
