It’s related to inappropriate treatment of a female employee* and/or John Doe #2.

*There was a feature about Caley Chelios in the Athletic about four days before he was booted.

Apparently the hawks traded a 5th rounder for Anthony Beauvillier from Vancouver, who shed a $4.15 million cap hit. Looks like a desperation move that really just costs cap space, but also opportunity cost of not being able to weaponize cap space to acquire more draft picks.

Oh hell yeah. This story will be leaked in no time if corporate sponsors were there

My theories are still holding strong

Must have missed it, what are your theories?

I'm trying to think of something that was not criminal actions, but severe enough for the Hawks to terminate his contract without NHLPA objections.  The only thing I can think of is him caught saying something extremely offensive.  Being a drunken buffoon is not enough to have his contract voided.

This happened shortly after the John Doe #2 lawsuit was filed. There’s a lot he could have thought and vocalized to the wrong people about that story, similar to how veterans at the time reacted originally.
alternatively, he could have made sexual advances to an employee. “Drunken buffoonery” covers a wide range of things, but the wrong ones can and will create a toxic work environment that can invite lawsuits. I’m not sure the NHLPA would want to fight for a guy that tried to Don Draper a marketing associate.

Maybe the most rotten of all the Chicago sports orgs, from the head down to the Toews.

That’s fine, but this is a really dumb response to this story. By all accounts they handled this appropriately, canning a high paying employee with cache who did something inappropriate involving a lower level employee.

the fact that other stories are coming out in Perrys defense at how "disgusting" the "made up stories" of him sleeping with Bedards mom were by others with information on the situation might actually be true - because Perry in fact was pop'n off about the real scandal. Its a valid theory, and if so, horsefeathers Perry

I don't think those stories are coming out necessarily in Perry's defense, more so in Melanie Bedard's defense, and that is why they are disgusting, as she literally has nothing to do with anything.

Wow. They healthy scratched Reichel yesterday. I think this is part of the danger of intentionally being bad. Your good players don’t have any good players to play with and are routinely overwhelmed by superior competition. Thankfully Bedard isn’t merely good. But they really run the danger of ruining their opportunity if all they do is keep losing

That's to be expected when you start the year with a bottom 5 roster, and then lose both of the quality veterans you sign for the season less than a month in.
