lol "a little weary" yeah that's one way to describe it

No one is asking for emotionless objectivity or endless optimism/positivity, but if the whole point is to react emotionally in the moment then don't forget to enjoy the good things that happen too.  Having the game thread almost exclusively filled with people venting is a miserable forum experience and it's got to be an exhausting way to follow a game/team too.

Cubs fans get mad when Cubs have lost 2 tough games in a row in a playoff race and have a season-long human gas can on the mound, film at 11

I see people reacting positively as well for the good moments as well, when you're losing during the heat of a playoff race the groans are going to be a little louder during bad phases which we are in one right now.

That is certainly one way you could read this thread

This reds series was an important one and they are blowing it, what do you want people to post right now? "Golly gee we'll get em next time fellas!"

Gotta feeling when Stroman gets activated,  Taillon will be going on the IL with some sort of soreness or tightness in that right arm

Just gotta say complaining about people complaining is one definite way to make a forum experience miserable.

Bullpen is gassed. Who do you suggest they bring in?

Greene can give them length

Palencia

Cuas

If they need an arm tomorrow they can bring up Little

Not soon enough but probably a week or so, he just started bullpen.

Unfortunately I think you're being a bit overoptimistic on that one. I haven't heard any timeline whatsoever, but my guess is closer to late September if at all.

"Cabbage Leaf"

Two words never uttered together in a baseball game until just now.  Thanks JD!!

I recall it being mentioned before. Didn't that used to be a real thing with some of the old timers?

No idea what adjustments Spiers has made but feels like we're getting frozen by a lot of strikes all of a sudden.

Season 9 Lol GIF by The Office

I remember watching back in the 80s they would mention the cabbage leaf under the cap, especially when they played on the turf in St.Louis in July and August.

I'm sure it was, but I found it funny. He's great in the booth and makes "not great" games fun to listen to at times.

I think it is more like 2 weeks or more. No way he is back starting before then. Probably more like the 20th or so.

The Cubs didn't win a 4-game series in the first half (0-2-2), but they haven't lost a series in the second half (3-0-1).  Would like to see that trend continue. FWIW.

Two out rallies are frustrating.

if one can’t enjoy watching the game they shouldn’t do it. This series has been tough due to the close games and come back loses. A little better bullpen work and they’d be looking for a four game sweep, but not this team this year.

They better score soon because Alexis Diaz will probably be available for more than 3 outs today and their set up man spots a pretty good as well
