My sister’s now ex boyfriend. Just broke up a month ago is a Cardinals fan. He adopted the Reds midseason because he likes Votto. He was going crazy for De La Cruz. While bashing Julio Rodriguez during the derby saying anyone can hit BP Fastballs. So it’s funny to me how bad De La Cruz looks. Definitely a fun player but has holes in his swing.

He also was sticking his chest out on what Willson said about being the better organization while I said that’s what all players say when they sign with new teams and that Contreras wouldn’t handle their poor staff well. The said the Cubs signing Bellinger was dumb and I said a 1 year flier on a former mvp is never dumb.

Enjoying how it has played out.

Everything here has huge new fan vibes. De La Cruz is massive, he’s going to be beaten until he adjusts. No dude that huge is going to get through a season unscathed.

Willson leaving the team was a good thing and the Cardinals are such an arrogant franchise to anyone viewing them objectively. Good, but also arrogant to the point of making massive blunders.

Bellinger was a risk 29 teams should have taken and I said it at the time.

You get credit for being a rational human being that has good baseball takes while the opposite is true of him.

The Cubs have scored 70 runs in their last 8 games against the Reds but are somehow 5-3 in that stretch and have games where they scored 1 and 2 runs (which I suppose begins to explain why they are 5-3 in that stretch)

Current run differential in those 8 games is +32 (70-38)

Much needed W and getting some bats warmed up today, hopefully they'll have a good homestand

I know it isn’t pretty and people want them to play 600 ball or better, but really 4-3 homestand works. Keep putting up 4-3 weeks and they are fine.

No damage done this series.. but so close to burying the Reds.

Right. No damage done. However even win one of those other games and Reds are close to eliminated. And they also have a nice cushion in the 5th spot. Still ok, however. Also nice to see bats come alive. P

I mean there is damage done. Finishing off those games would have us with a 4.5 game playoff cushion, tied with the Phillies for WC1 and 2.5 games behind the Brewers and our playoff odds would be something like 97% right now but yes it could have been a lot worse. It is what it is

Remaining schedule:

3 vs. SF
4 vs. ARZ
3 @ COL
3 @ ARZ
3 vs. PIT
3 vs. COL
3 @ ATL
3 @ MIL

Cincy's schedule is much easier

While that is true, the Reds are 21-27 since the ASB. And I have not looked it up, but my guess is the Cubs are not playing a team with a winning record in the second half of the season until they meet Atlanta(who may have clinched best overall record by the time they play..)
