You really think they're trying to pad the stats of a 5th round nobody?

I despise agreeing with Kyle but he's right on this one.  Dude is trash.

Agreed.  Packers fans dont want to hear it but he has accuracy issues.  If he was being pressured at a normal rate I think he would have had a poor game.  He made the passes he needed to though...that one lob pass TD in the corner of the end zone was nice, but similar to Fields he can have nice throws but also miss on simple ones.

Agreed. I had the Bears at 7-10 and GB at 8-9. I'm not going to deviate from the Packers but I doubt we'll see the Bears at 7 though. There's nothing there to think it went beyond the Bears playing terrible.

i really don't think PFFs ratings work very well for quarterbacking, if you strip all context out then their one holistic number doesn't seem to hold a lot of meaning

It's also possible that pff doesn't know what they're looking at.

Another reason so many people question and/or are puzzled by PFF grades. Love has the highest QBR so far in Week 1. I thought Love was good, made some plays, and didn’t really do anything to hurt the Packers. Certainly areas to improve to all in all a pretty good performance.

As far as Fields, I’m as baffled as many of you why he/the coaches didn’t take many shots beyond 10 yards.  Maybe not early or in the first half.  But by late in the second half, let it go.

Anyway, it’s Game 1/Preseason Game 4. No team or fan too should be too high or too low after 1 week. Niners crapped the bed last year in week 1 and won 14 of the next 16 games.

Love was not good, but he didn’t horsefeathers up and faced a pathetic defense. Fields was not good, but did horsefeathers up, in many of the same ways he’s done in the past.

Sure, but if they are really sitting there watching All 22 tape and focusing on every single player on every play, I'd trust their judgment more than someone who just watched the broadcast of the game.  No one should take PFF as gospel at all, there are many flaws in trying to assign a statistical grade using judgment evaluations, but it's not completely worthless either.

Well, that's what they claim to be doing. We have no way of verifying it or replicating the results.

We are officially at the point of Bears Monday where people on twitter are posting screen shots of open receivers that Fields should have thrown to.

If he's staring down receivers is everyone really open?  Given the defense knows where the ball is going to be thrown, is it not a real possibility the other receivers looking "open"  are because of the secondary converging on the ball?

Tim Jenkins posted a video breaking down 11 plays. There was a run play or two, but of the pass plays, there were 2-3 Fields didn't throw to open people down the field. There were a couple Jenkins didn't know what the hell the play was (redzone play Van Ness made). And there was 1 CB blitz where it looks like Fields sees it but the WR doesn't make an adjustment and runs right into coverage, and Fields takes off.

There's also a fun video of all of Chase Claypool's missed blocks and lazy routes when he knew he wasn't getting the ball. They probably have to cut their losses with this dude, yikes!

There are some fans that just always think their players are going to be awesome, and I'm sure Packer fans have more of them after the last 25 years...but I don't think expectations are very high for Love.  He's clearly just a guy.  He actually played a fair amount better than I expected him to play for his first game as "the guy" (partly because a WR corps feating Doubbs has to be the worst in the NFL) but I think it had more to do with the Bears pass rush being non-existant.

Yeah thats the problem with screen shots.  Someone may look open in a moment in time, but if you watch the video the window isn't there.  I just think its funny when people post pictures thinking they show indisputable proof that Fields missed a wide open guy.

Of the two units I believe there's a good chance the defense improves, I've really no hope for the offense, unless they decide to hit horsefeathers it with Fields and go for broke. The bad aspect is with an improving defense we're back to whole defense, defense, try to manage TOP boring ass football.

Yeah I'm watching that one right now, its a pretty good breakdown and the blame seems to be a little bit of everyone

Here's the video:

Given that the D is Eberflukes baby, I think it’s highly unlikely to be the unit that puts it together

The correct answer is probably neither but, I can't think the offense will put it together before the defense.

Yeah I feel like the Packer fans I talk to are a little more measured than that.  They were all saying they didn't really know what was going to happen with Love.  I still think they don't know.  Most years Aaron Rodgers enjoyed 4 games vs. DET and CHI that were incredibly winnable.  I think Love has 2 this year, but not the DET or MIN games.  We'll see how he fares when he's not comfortable in the pocket.

If someone twisted my arm right now, I'd say he's going to wind up middle of the pack of NFL QBs, capable of winning but only with a good team around him and especially a healthy RB room to keep the pressure off.

Good friend of mine trying to cope with the L.

I've already heard people suggesting he'll go to Michigan next year after Harbaugh leaves for the NFL lol.  Every fanbase is going to expect Coach Prime.

We're going to see an overcompensation against the Bucs - run, run, designed runs for Fields and more non-designed runs from Fields - count on it.   Don't know if there's a betting line on passing attempts but, I'd take the under on 20, hell, I'd be shocked if he even attempts 15 passes.
