Ah, the classic baseball-ism that the more incompetent a catcher becomes at the plate, the more god-like attributes they are assumed to have while behind it.

It's no coincidence David Ross was the backup catcher on the Cubs in 2016.

Wisdom has better splits this year against righties. I can’t believe that he’s playing Mastrobuoni again.

Every other platoonish player has a great game and they inexplicably sit the next day.  Mastrobuoni has his first good hitting game of the year and hes back out there again.

In Wisdom’s earlier slump he was still miles better than Miles

Even Barnhart’s framing has been trash. Everything close to an edge he yanks back to the middle of the plate. Can’t imagine that helps the pitcher out.

I just want to see Mancini have a competitive AB.

I didn’t realize we were sharing fantasies in here now.

Can someone explain to me what Barnhart beings to the table that Amaya can’t, I’m just not seeing it.

Simple,  theyre trying to help him get the bonus/escalators 🤷‍♂️🤪😜

Barnhart’s deal includes a $3.25 million salary for 2023 and a $3.25 million player option for 2024. The agreement includes escalators and performance bonuses that could make it worth $9.5 million over two seasons.

Tauchmann feels like he has hit much better than his average shows

Right.. I think  he'll definitely be back next season,  he not all that good, but he a good bench guy to have on a non contending team that'll  probably be starting a rookie in CF next season.

If it involves more than 2 homers over the next season and a half, he could play every game and bat 5 times per and still fall short.

Boog and JD is infinitely better than any other booth they're putting out there

But what if... hear me out on this one... they pick a random fan out of the stands to be the third man in the booth each game?  Just a little something to completely throw off the rhythm of each night's broadcast.

Better yet....how about a FOUR man booth?

The 4th person is just a rotating cast of players, coaches, Cubs execs, celebs, random fans they interview the entire inning about something barely related to the baseball game being called.
