Michigan actually has a great draw for someone in their position. They get a Q1 game against Rutgers which will possibly be an elimination game for one of them. Then they get a chance to make a statement with a Q1-A game against Purdue. If they win that somehow, they could get MSU on Saturday. MSU 31 in NET right now, 1 spot away from being another Q1 win for Michigan, so they may be in a situation where regardless of result they walk out with a Q1 win. So win 2, lose 1 but gain 3 Q1 wins. Maybe still not enough for Michigan, but they'd at least be in the conversation on Sunday.

of course, Illinois gets arch-nemesis Penn State to open the tournament. I guess the good news is they avoid Purdue until the final if they somehow get there.

If the Illini who showed up for 20 minutes vs. Purdue or 20 minutes vs. Northwestern could somehow appear for most of the game vs. Penn State, they'll roll over the Nittany Lions. Of course, that has not happened all season, no real reason to think it'll happen Thursday.

It'll be interesting to see how Underwood tries to limit Pickett. I noticed towards the end of the game at Penn State Pickett had trouble shooting over Melendez with his long arms. I'd try going at Pickett with Melendez and Rogers, I'd also try going after him on the offensive end, take him inside, post him, he's only 6'2'', try to get him foul trouble.

I'd avoid putting Rogers on him. They got burned on a couple threes against Purdue the other night because he was sagging off his guy too much and got screened out of an opportunity to challenge an open three because he was just sloppy about his positioning. A couple of those early and Pickett gets hot and it'll be the last matchup all over again.

I loathe Michigan and Dickinson; however, Dickinson is so much more skilled than Edey. Even though he's slow his NBA chances are far greater. Edey is just monstrously big and maybe being so affects one's dexterity.

Had Michigan continued to feed him they may have won today, don't understand why they got away from what they did in the first half.

On to the next season which is *checks notes* oh god the Cubs?

Ohio State winning the following game has to be pure salt in the wound. :hello:

I have like maybe 5% of the hate for Ohio State basketball than I do Ohio State football. They're not going to the tourney either way unless they win 3 more so whatevs.

Thanks for sharing a highlight from yesterday afternoon's games

Sorry, only just saw it (and no one else posted it so.......)

This Illini team has got to be lowest basketball IQ version I've ever seen, time and time again they keep leaving that Funk clown. Literally all he can do is shot 3's, which he's very good at, nevertheless, these idiots kept leaving him and giving him space. He can't put the ball on the floor, he won't take it to the hoop, why allow him to do the only thing he's capable of?

Penn State did everything they could to give it away in the last 2 minutes

If they were facing a team with a sliver of basketball IQ they might have lost but, not against these horsefeathering idiots.

Rutgers hanging tough in this game. Feels like Purdue will pull away late, though

Don't know why more teams haven't pressed Purdue more often. Their little guards can't see over the defenders and their big guys don't have good enough handles to help with the clear.

Not having Jenkins on the floor the final 90 seconds was a mistake in my opinion. He handles the ball better than Loyer, and with Smith and Morton already out there, Jenkins would give them another point guard on the floor.
