Anyone who was mocking people for saying Purdue were a fake good team should step up and apologize.

How about I tell you to go horsefeathers yourself instead?

Looks like you just did

This is honestly the most frustrating part of this horsefeathers. EVERYBODY was jawing all year about how Purdue is over-rated. What am I supposed to do with that? Just say horsefeathers it and stop watching them? They win 29 games. They are a top 5 team all year. They get a horsefeathering 1 seed. KenPom measures them as being an elite balanced team.

Then they horsefeathers on the court come tourney time. Why is this Purdue's fate every horsefeathering year?

I don’t even mean this in a snarky way, if my team lost in the first round to a 13, 15, and 16 in consecutive years I might stop watching them. At least don’t invest a bunch of time in the regular season so future disappointments hurt less

March madness abounds. I don’t follow college basketball at all. But this tournament is the most fun post season playoff in all of sports year after year if you’re not wedded to one team. I can understand the heartbreak though.

It's eerily similar to Virginia's last 4 trips to the tournament, except Virginia squeezed a national championship in the middle of losing 3 other years in the first round to 13, 13 and 16 seeds.

Drake's offense the last four minutes has been either

-fail to break the press and turn the ball over

-get the ball up the court, dribble around and then chuck a 3 with 5 seconds left on the shot clock.

Their last possession they didn't even take a shot.

I honestly feel this way right now.

But then everybody brings up Virginia's struggles, then their Championship.

Also, assuming Edey isn't crazy enough to try to go to the NBA(And the transfer portal doesn't hit too hard), Purdue probably returns their whole roster except for David Jenkins. We're talking their top 7 guys in minutes played returning.

2 words for you: Matt Painter

I grew up 30 mins NW from Purdue. It’s funny how everyone back home thinks it’s on the players every year. It's not. It's Painter and his shitty ass outdated system. It’s great to rack up wins during season and everything, but when it comes to pressure or tournament time, it’s either mediocre at best or worse. It basically reminds me of the Lovie’s Bears era where it’s all based on elite running game and defense when the rest of the league was going towards all offense.

I don't know anything about Painter's system, but it's at least somewhat on him when his team just absolutely goes full clenched-ass and won't shoot, and also can't get the ball to the guy who is a foot taller than anyone on FDU.

Hopefully after time has passed you can at least take solace in the fact that Purdue won the regular season and conference tournament championship. But I totally get it if this completely ruins those accomplishments. I was talking with some Michigan fans after the game about whether you’d rather miss the tourney or be a 1 seed and lose to a 16. I think I’d rather actually miss the tourney of those scenarios

It is a bunch of crap. You're providing nothing of substance here. You're just saying his system can't handle pressure...

I'm all about criticizing Purdue, Painter, the Big Ten, etc... especially tonight. But give me something to work with here.

I agree. This feels much worse than the times Purdue has been on the sideline.

On the plus side, going into this tournament I figured it'd be a wilder one and especially hated all the top seeds in the East, so I have an FAU-Kentucky elite eight matchup.

On the down side, FAU might lose tonight to Memphis, so what do I know.

I understand Fairleigh Dickinson is the shortest team and Purdue the tallest. Madness indeed. I won’t pretend to be a basketball expert but it’s hard to understand Purdue not just tossing it to Edey for easy baskets all game.

Edey scored 21 points doing that.

Essentially, they double and triple teamed Edey and allowed everybody else to shoot wide open shots. Not-Edey shot 29% (19% from three) and turned the ball over 16 times, so they lost.

We knew Purdue was vulnerable to teams willing to press, I thought it might show up at some point just not the first round.

Keep sleeping on Marquette, [expletive]. Yeah, we squeaked out some close games, but no one type of team gave us consistent trouble, and we cruised through the BE tournament, which is the second-best conference in the country. Fight me.

Edit: the expletive is effers, so, directed at all of you, not just bukie. And Vegas.

The Illini can take page out of SDSU' book find a PG in the portal, a PG who's had success at a non-power 5, no more Skyy Clarks. I was really excited for the Illini when they landed Clark, had no idea of the baggage he brings with him. Underwood took a chance and got burned, wonder if he'll take such a chance again. Thus far Harris has already tweeted he's staying, sounds like Goode, Melendez and Rogers are as well, there's also a chance one of Shannon or Hawkins is back after testing NBA waters. Add a PG who can play to that mix and you've got a decent team.

No one should care because its the NIT but after losing 6 other games with an 80%+ chance of winning in the 2nd half this year, Michigan managed to save their best for last.

Up 8, with the ball, 1:06 left and their best player with the ball in his hands under the basket with a clean look, and they managed to lose in regulation. Vanderbilt didn't hit any 3 pointers. Michigan didn't shoot (and miss) any FTs. They just turned the ball over 4 straight times leading to easy baskets (and a FT). 97.7% chance of winning and they lost it. Good times

Hell, at least they managed to win one game in the NIT, I'm fairly certain this Illini would have found a way to lose in the first round of the NIT as well.

It's already not looking too good for Arkansas vs. Kansas, few rushed 3 pointers, not getting any offensive rebounds. It'll be interesting to see how much that Walsh gets to hand and body check in this game. Although he did get called for four fouls, he easily committed eight the other night.
