Not sure how I feel about having a nice guy GM.

Depends on how long he's the GM.

I mean, he says that, but he straight up told the media he had offers in hand for 3 #1s, so he basically did that.

He just maybe isn't telling some other team, "Hey, the Panthers are offering 2 1's, 2 2's, and DJ Moore/Brian Burns/Derrick Brown. Can you top that?"

Yea, I see this as more "honest Poles" than "pushover Poles""

It's fine. 95% of what fans imagine as negotiating tactics are meaningless fluff.

No one's falling over themselves to offer you more just because you claim to have a specific offer that they have no way of verifying.

thought this was interesting though it’s almost certainly a courtesy as they’ve been pretty clear about only considering AH

Maybe not the best analogy, but back in 2005 during the fever days of the housing boom my wife and were trying to buy a house in Westchester county NY. We'd make a bid and then have the agent tell us that there was another bid x amount higher. Then we'd increase by x+1 and the agent would come back and say we were outbid again. This went on for like two months. I got fed up with it. So I told our agent that from that point forward our bid was our bid. We had a house within one month. It wasn't the greatest, but we were satisfied.

I think that's what Poles is talking about. he wants the best offer so he can weigh them all.

While they were under escrow with AH they were legally bound not to discuss publically or pursue other offers

Good point.  Are you suggesting that Chicago might still be in play, or that now that they own AH they can at least pretend to be listening to Chicago's overtures?  Still think they are 99% locked into AH, but know that they still have to work with the city and the new mayor for the next several years.

Probably the latter.  For Chicago to be in play there has to be some Hail Mary alternative site I haven't heard of. I don't think SF reno part deux gets job done.

Maybe I'm just dumb but I cannot figure out how to change the thread title. Is there an option to make this happen at least for the person who started the thread? @Brock Beauchamp

Thread titles are changed by editing the original post. Any mod or admin can do it at any time but users have a one hour time limit.

Is this something you all need frequently? I can disable that one hour time limit.

Yes, PLEASE get rid of that limit.

Yes, especially for something like the offseason thread. It was initially a general roster turnover thread that transformed into the offseason thread and then some heathen admin renamed it this clunky nonsense.

Yes please.  I made a typo the other day and couldn't edit it and was horribly ashamed knowing it was etched in stone for the rest of history.
