DJ Moore 2022 highlights

Also I read somewhere that Moore's last 5 seasons worth of production would make him the 3rd best Bears WR of all time lol

Would Paris Johnson be a solid pickup at 9? Maybe Myles Murphy?

Perfect spot for Quentin Johnston

Is this like the Cubs trying to get all the SSs back in the day?

You can never have enough great WRs and Moore/Claypool/Mooney maybe the 15th best WR trio in the league but the Bears have so so so many more holes to fill. I'm concerned about impact game-changing talent on defense. I'm sure Poles has a plan though.

On the surface, DJ Moore is not AJ Brown or Stefon Diggs who helped 3rd year QBs take a huge leap. But a deeper dive shows:

AJ Brown- 4.3 catches, 69.7 yards per game, two 1000 yard seasons in 3 years before trade

Stefon Diggs- 5.2 catches, 66 yards per game, two 1000 yard seasons in 5 years before trade

DJ Moore- 4.6 catches, 65 yards per game, three 1000 yards seasons in 5 years

You would know better than I, but I assume having late career Cam Newton, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield didnt help his production too much.

Always interesting to read opposing reactions. From what I saw:

50% of panthers fans thought it was a fair trade

35% thought they got ripped off

15% thought they ripped off the Bears

and about Moore:

60% are absolutely destroyed that he's gone

30% are sad he's gone

10% are taking slight shots at him, saying things like "he was never able to elevate a bad offense with a bad QB like other top WRs can" (which..wha?)

I would have liked a higher 2nd round pick but getting Moore out of it along with (2) 1st rd picks is a solid return

now sign McGlinchy, Hargrave, draft BPA at 9 and let's get on with it. Maybe they can package their a 2nd round pick with one of their 4th rounds and move up

Wouldn't Poles have sign multiple OL and DL? JSN at #9 completes the WR room.

Yeah my 2 gripes are not getting #40 and the other 2nd round pick being in 2025. But minor nitpicks for a trade I like overall. I think Poles really wanted to get this done before FA and he may have been able to hold off and get the earlier Panthers 2nd but valued getting it done now.

Bears have 55, 61 and 65 now. If there's somoene we love, would easly package 2 of them to move up, but given the Bears holes probably better to use all 3 picks.

When is the last time the Bears had 2 first round picks in the same draft like we will next year? The year we had 3 and drafted Grossman?

prolly, but McGlinchy is my primary target. Also, the Browns C is a nice upgrade to Mustiphail and there are other DT options/additions

I'm reading some takes that the Panthers are really enamored with Anthony Richardson. Crazy if they traded up to 1 to take a guy who was the consensus 4th QB 2 weeks ago.

I would love to see them do that. That should make those future picks more valuable.

For those who want to hear immediate in depth analysis of the trade, Robert Mays of The Athletic is doing an emergency podcast right now with Nate Tice and Dane Brugler (Mays is a huge Bears fan and was sold on Fields from the start):
