2022 Complain about your fantasy team that no one cares about discussion

My fantasy playoff life is on the line tonight. I lost this week to fall to 7-7 but can back in to the 6th and last playoff spot if the guy poised to pass me for that position doesn't have James Conner outscore the Arizona defense by more than 10 points. I won this league last year so I'd really like to try to defend the title.

IF I get in, it actually would've worked out pretty well because the guy I would have played in the playoffs had I just won is the highest-scoring team in the league, but the guy locked into the #3 seed opposite my potential #6 ranks 8th in the league in scoring. (I'm 3rd.)

Update - so the guy I needed to lose didn't lose. I hadn't even considered the idea that my Patriots defense vs. my opponent's DeAndre Hopkins, when I was down 15 points, would swing the other way.

New England's defense scored 20 points in our league. Hopkins had 5.9. I would've won if Josh Uche, who had his mitts on Colt McCoy on Arizona's final play, would've completed the sack. Instead I lose by 0.8. Insane.

I made it another week thanks to that last DK Metcalf catch with less than a minute left in the game. That one catch moved me up 3 places to 7 spots above the cut line with only 6 teams below me having someone playing the Sunday or Monday night games. If I don't move up those 3 places, I probably don't make the cut.

Been doing some research this am and I'm leaning with....

Deshawn Watson vs. the Ravens

Miles Sanders vs. Bears

Keenan Allen vs. Titans

Pickings are slim at WR now. Everyone is a hit and miss fantasy guy each week. I could change to Michael Pittman, but he's really been disappointing this year. Indy's line might be worse than the Bears. I'm guessing Matt Ryan wished he retired. I could go with Devanta Smith at WR, but I still want to stay away from teammates in the same line up. I still have quite a few RB options if I decided to put Smith in there vs. the Bears. Stevenson, A. Jones, Pollard, Elliott, Montgomery to name a few.

The Patriots D scored 25 points

How many teams in your league if you are playing guys like Boyd, Chark, Pacheco and Homer? Yuck!

Byes for Olave, McLaurin, and Robinson Jr. Burks injured.

Wasn't even thinking of the 6 team bye week. Makes sense to me now. I had a strong roster this week, but my entire bench was on bye except for one injured player that was out on Sunday.

If this were a contest that rewarded you for having a top line up, I'd worry about uncorrelated plays like RB-WR on the same team. But this is the exact opposite. I wouldn't go out of my way to do it, but I'd actually be looking for opportunities to do RB-WR on the same team. It makes it more likely for you to land in the middle of the remaining entries, which is a win. Sanders-Devanta seems like a great play to me.

Interesting thought. Not sure I've seen any teams do it so far, but I also haven't really been looking that closely at the other team's patterns. Brisker and Gordon are expected back this week with fresh legs, which was also weighing a bit on my decision.

I think I'm most concerned about QB. Even though it's suggested that Watson is expected to have a big game against the Ravens, the Ravens D has been rather bullish since they traded for Roquan, minus the game against Jacksonville. Granted, they've played rather crappy teams/QB's during that span, but that's kinda where Cleveland falls at the moment along with a division rivalry. I have to outguess my opponents, who likely have rather similar remaining players. Maybe they go Devanta and Sanders. This is the hardest week for me to choose so far.

Here are my QB choices this week:

Geno Smith vs. SF

Trevor Lawrence vs. Dallas

Goff vs. Jets

Dimes vs. Commanderskins

Brady vs. Bengals

Carr vs. Patriots

Some guy I've never heard of (ATL) vs. Saints

Ryan vs. Vikings

Tannehill vs. Chargers

Dalton vs. Falcons

Davis Mills vs. Chiefs

Prescott vs. Jags

Mac Jones vs. Raiders

Heineke vs. Giants

Mayfield vs. Packers

Somebody (Jets) vs. Lions

Somebody (Steelers) vs. Panthers

Somebody (9ers) vs. Seahawks

McCoy vs. Denver

Darnold vs. Steelers

Rypien vs. Cardinals

Cardinals QB? vs. Denver

Maybe this is the week to go with Dallas (Prescott). Dallas is now tied with the Vikings for the #2 seed. They can't be messing around and lose.

Maybe Prescott, Devanta Smith and Miles Sanders. Matt Ryan is expected to have a decent day against the Vikings, but will he survive another sack or does he care to try to beat anybody now? My other thought is that I do need to have some playoff QB options once this battle goes into the playoffs. If there is a way to still have Prescott, Brady, along with a few others (Geno, Tannehill, Daniel Jones, Heineke, Tannehill), that would potentially help me in these final weeks if I make it that far.

New plan. Now I'm going with Dak at QB. Then I'm going double threat from the Eagles with Sanders and Smith. All three play at noon on Sunday in two games, which allows me to put both of those games on two of my bar tv's, and then I can put Red Zone on the other one. Bears really haven't been giving up crazy yards to receivers, so I may still look at other options at WR. Garrett Wilson looks enticing as an option since he's going against Detroit. Jefferson just torched their secondary last Sunday. No Red Zone during fantasy playoffs for me if I go with Wilson. Or do I haul another tv to the man cave Sunday after the World Cup? Hmmm. Just talked myself into it. Hell yeah! Just horsefeathering win baby!

Yeah, Dak and Lawrence are a fair amount better than all the rest of your options. Unless Dak has some insanely better matchup than Lawrence for week 16, I'd go Dak this week.

My options for my superflex spot:

Baker Mayfield @GB

Sam Darnold vs PIT

Kenny Pickett @CAR

Colt McCoy @DEN

6 pt passing TD if that matters. I hate that I have to pick one of these guys... any advice? Leaning Baker due to having the mini-bye to learn the system and better targets.

I'd lean Darnold, but it's kinda a toss up between him and Mayfield.

Pickett is still in concussion protocol and that alone would scare me. I think I agree with your view of Baker being the best of bad options.

3 responses, 3 different options lol. They are all pretty close so I might just close my eyes and choose one.

I could also play D'onta Foreman in that spot but even below average QBing usually gets more points than anyone but top tier WR/RBs.

I'm favored by 25 points so hopefully can survive a bad choice but obviously fantasy is unpredictable.

I’d go Darnold, home game and they have to win. Baker/Rams are DOA and on the road vs Packers off a bye week in likely poor weather, Pickett in concussion protocol and on the road/he sucks, McCoy sucks and on the road in Denver vs a good defense. Think Darnold is the play.

Win and I make it or outscore another guy by 32 to make it.

But I’m a 4 time champ in 11 years and would prefer to knock my opponent out because he’s the only other multi time champ left in the league.

QB-Fields or Herbert

Then it’s 3WRs 2RBs and a Flex

WR-St Brown

WR-McLaurin

WR-

RB-Jacobs

RB-

Flex-

Remaining pool of WR/RB

Mike Williams, Devonta Smith, Najee, Patterson, Fournette, and Dobbins.

Leaning 4 WRs plus Najee or Dobbins. Not sure if I roll with Fields not knowing how much he’ll run or go Herbert who might be safer if Fields doesn’t run much.

My opponent lineup is featuring Dak, Tyreek, Mixon, and Henry.

Guy I need to outscore by 32 in case I lose has Hurts, Davante, Taylor, and Conner.

Sanders - 1.4 points

Freiermuth - 0.0 points

Cowboys D - 8 points

Butker - 1 point

Started Pacheco while opponent started McKinnon, adv them. I'm still in it but Davante Adams isn't doing much and Brady decided to have the game of the season so far against a good D. Picked up Waller but didn't start him because he just got off the IR. Waller has a TD Freiermuth didn't get a target I don't think. AJ Brown had an excellent game but was stopped inside the 4 yard line twice. Fields stepped out at the 9 negating a rushing TD.

I just needed to vent. I'm basically going to be in a position where I need Barkley to have 25 points tonight to have a shot and he hasn't been good in weeks.

Sanders going missing really hurt me. Probably cost me thousands of dollars.

Ok well that's much worse than the hundreds he cost me. But still sucks none the less. Where the horsefeathers is Davante Adams btw?
