I had to get back to work unfortunately. Can't even follow on gameday today. :(

Stupid conference calls. Little looked good overall, then?

Yep. Fastball up, power breaking ball. Could stand to improve command a bit, but that's not surprising.

Yeah, about as good as could be hoped for.

I really wish this game had Statcast up. Little's been one of the guys posting data from like warehouse Rapsodo sessions during quarantine. I'd love to see how close to real those numbers are on an actual game mound.

Reaaaallllllyyyyy liked what Little showed there. If he's really hanging out at like 95 now, wowza

He looks like a very intriguing reliever but I hope they keep him starting in the minors for now.

Some of the writers have been posting velo's for guys, guessing off the stadium gun. So hopefully someone posts it.

Arizona Phil[/url]"]Here are some pitching info from today's game for those of you who didn't see it:

Adbert Alzolay:

FB: 93-95

CH: 87

SL: 84

CV: 82

COMMENT: Threw mostly FB and looked sharp... thought he might go two IP but it was at least a good start..

Dan Winkler:

FB: 91-94

CV: 83-84

COMMENT: Lots of FB and he got good results with the limited arsenal he showed today..

Jonathan Holder:

FB: 91-94

CH/CT: 88-89

CV: 83

COMMENT: Nothing special but got a 1-2-3 inning...

Dillon Maples:

FB: 94-97

CT: 87

SL: 85

CV: 84

COMMENT: Has a job in the pen if he has the kind of command and shows swing & miss stuff like he did today... By far the most-impressive outing of the seven Cubs pitchers who threw today...

Gray Fenter:

FB: 89-93

SL: 85

CV: 75-77

COMMENT: Was unable to command his CV which is supposed to be his best pitch... I just don't see how he makes the Opening Day pitching staff of a contending team.... He's not bad, but the Cubs have lots of other pitchers just like him in the system...

Brendon Little:

FB: 95-96

SL: 84-87

COMMENT: Has a "live" arm and he looks like he could develop into a really nice LHRP...

Jake Jewell:

FB: 95-97

SL/CT: 86-90

COMMENT: Hard thrower... RH-pull no-doubt HR came on a 96 MPH FB that got turned around pretty good... FB has good velo but is straight and his secondary pitch is just passable so hitters can sit on FB...

If a guy's sitting 95 right now, you would tend to expect what, 97 by midseason? There's maybe a dozen lefties who can do that.

Like Raisin said you've gotta try post pandemic Little in the rotation again, but between him, Marquez, and Caraway I'm feeling good about the ability to add a young fire breathing lefty to the pen at midseason.

JOCDONG?

JOC JAM?

maybe go old school

JOCWGN?

Whatever you call it, that was a really pretty full-extension swing and a nice AB to get from 1-2 to 3-2 leading up to it

That was as boring as a two run inning gets.

HBP

ground ball single through the hole

Walk

ground out scores run

ground out scores run

strikeout

Would have been super frustrating as a Mariners fan, though. Both groundouts should have been double plays.

"Boog" annoys me. People who refer to themselves by their nickname annoy me. A nickname is what someone else calls you - I'd almost prefer him to refer to himself in the 3rd person. That would be funny. I'm too old to change.

I don't think most of my friends from college know my real name.

Do you introduce yourself using your nickname? I've had 3 pretty solidly used ones - high school, university, work - if any of those groups intermingle its pandemonium - but I would never refer to myself by any of them. Put it in a professional situation it just seems even odder.

JD Drew

Is JD not a contraction of his actual name? - or is there another story to it?

It is a transposed variation of his initials. Not a contraction.

regardless, we're talking about the entertainment industry, half the people involved go by fake names. It is beyond strange to get worked up about somebody going by such a name.

Champ Bailey isn't actually named Champ.

Bo is a least an actual name . Is Minnie just a contraction of Minoso? We could throw Catfish Hunter out there - did he call himself Catfish? I don't know. Look, I'm certainly not saying I'm in the right here or even circling the island of reasonability but a grown man who greets the world with "Hey this is Boog" gives me pause.

Fake or stage names are entirely different though. Nobody's getting worked up; it's the offseason on a Baseball board and he's a new announcer...who wants people to call him "Boog".

Doesn’t he introduce himself as Jon?

I've heard him call himself Boog, but when he opened the broadcast the other day he said Jon.
