I know it happens very often in playoff baseball but, its frustrating as hell when schmoes like Copper and Joyce hit the hell out of the ball. Whereas, a real quality hitter like Kris Bryant couldn't get a hit in a softball game. Doesn't really matter what Miami does they'll get blasted by the Dodgers in the end.

I mean they had guys like Zobrist who could be relied on to get on base consistently. But we had the same issues we've had since then, just less extreme. In retrospect its pretty amazing the Cubs managed to get their way out of at least 2 separate offensive tailspins in those playoffs

I think Willson will too, but yeah that's fair. That said if Theo wants to, he can pretty much clean slate it this winter outside of Heyward:

 

- Heyward is unmovable. His big year probably would have made him an option to trade in a normal winter, but this offseason is not one to move big money

- Kyle and Yu, even with big $, are so good they're easily movable

- What Kimbrel has done since ~mid-August is probably enough to give his contract some real surplus value, but at minimum he could be moved without eating any money

- Bote makes like $3M a year and is a league average player. Very easy to trade right now

 

Everyone else is on a non guaranteed deal. If the FO wants to they can completely remake the team at this point.

I dont want to hear any of theo's [expletive], because it obviously means nothing. he literally said the offense was broken 2 seasons ago and did absolutely nothing, because hes terrified of saying goodbye to any of his babies.
