theo is so busted he cant even build a team with real patience anymore. just brute forcing walks by making a bunch of dumb hitters take a million pitches

I had very very low expectations for the Cubs offense heading into the playoffs and somehow they managed underperform those expectations.

But this is exactly what we saw from them the last 6 weeks of the season so it shouldn't be a shock

baez/bryant/rizzo are 19/140 with 51 k and 6 walks in the postseason since the ws

19/141 with 52Ks. Mindblowing stats. These guys have been MVP candidates since then and completely horsefeathers the bed in October.

when you can't hit meatballs with authority, the pitchers realize they don't have to nibble and they get into a groove

i remember when this team could make pitchers feel actual pressure, facing the cubs in the playoffs has to be the easiest thing for a first time postseason pitcher's nerves

Cubs season has ended with a team celebrating at Wrigley Field for the 4th time in 6 years (5 playoff appearances)

I was at Wrigley in 15, 17, 18, and even the last home game last year. It felt nice not have to be there.

Here’s a not-so fun little stat- counting the 2018 division tie-breaker, this marks the Cubs 9th consecutive post-season game scoring 2 runs or fewer; 7 of which were fewer.

Uhh they scored 3 in G4 of the 2017 NLCS, just 5 games ago. Unless you meant 9th consecutive loss with 2 runs or fewer

Just for fun, here is the number of runs the Cubs have scored in their 10 most recent playoff games:

0

1

1

1

3

1

1

2

9

0

2

And here is how the Cubs scored those 9 runs in that one game:

groundout

groundout

wild pitch

double down the line (x2 runs)

Passed ball on a strikeout

HBP

Error

groundout

Watch, the schnooks who looked good vs. the Cubs will realize they suck against the Braves. Man, I horsefeathering hate when that happens but, it happens all the time in playoff baseball.

Of course Brandon Kintzler would strike out the side.

Read on Twitter that it's the first time in 7 years Kintzler recorded all 3 outs by strikeout.

My 23 year old son nailed this team perfectly in a text to me:

Yeah I think they need to be aggressive and come out swinging. They're trying to wear the starter out but he's still going to get 6/7 innings in if they don't get on base

Edited to italicized his words.
