Peaks and valleys with this team, on a peak there burying these clowns on the current valley Miami looks like world beaters. I thought taking pitches, grinding out at bats, was the supposed approach?

they grind at bats into weak contact and ground balls

yea but that turned into staring at meatballs right down the middle with your bat on your shoulder

Blow it up outside of everyone but Yu and Hendricks

And Happ if he's willing to sign an extension.

he's the one guy that'll have real value in a trade

I was thinking the same thing. Him and Contreras were the only 2 guys with more than a year of control left that showed any pulse offensively. We will probably have to give up one if not both of them to get any meaningful value in a trade. But of course that would deplete the offense and it might be even worse next year if guys like Javy and KB dont bounce back enough.

I just can't help think that with no payroll room, declining value on almost all of our ML hitters, and not a ton available on the farm for trade or for roster improvement, rebuilding might ultimately be our fastest way out of this mess. Of course if we do that Theo won't be around to oversee it so I'm sure he will just keep everyone here and hope that the offense amazingly bounces back, though will still have all the major glaring issues its showed for 3+ seasons.

Been waiting 6+ weeks for that next peak outside of a game here and there.

I think the main problem with the offense is that the organization is forcing them to take walks even though they have no real discipline. they get walks by deciding beforehand to take pitches. the result is that they pass on hittable pitches, get into deep counts, and then strikeout...because the team also has contact issues.

just a completely broken group of hitters that should have never been the offense to start the season

Clear everyone, even if it’s 40 cents on the dollar (non tender if you must) outside of Yu and Kyle. Put yourself in a spot to sign some of the 2022 FA loaded class guys.

2017-19 was peaks and valleys. this is just a bigass valley.

Wow, Ross is leaving Kimbrel in despite throwing 19 pitches and walking the first 2 hitters in the inning, the last on 4 pitches while the hitter was trying to bunt.

I'm sure this will end well.

Maybe, but Nightengale can go horsefeathers himself, how potent were his Cardinals vs. Nats in last year' NLCS?

He also is pushing a reliever to a second inning, after getting out of an inning who never really has gone 1+ before. He’s been really bad at that too. These are traditional 1 inning/appearance guys. They aren’t use to the coming in and sitting then going back out stuff.

Perhaps this second is not the moment to be making long term plans about the franchise.

Frustrated? Of course you are! But it’s still two baseball games in a row. Would a three run homer in the next inning mean that everyone is a genius after all?

I’m more afraid of 2021 mediocrity than a collapse. Let’s at least give the team a week after winning the division before we strip everything down to the foundation.

you know we have greater context for this than the last 2 games, right?
