I'm at work and don't get cell service in the office. I walk out and get a flood of texts from my wife going from "Cubs suck" to "omg Cubs are winning" to "Kimbrel sucks" to "Cubs win"

So...this was potentially a dagger. Obviously the win is big, but also the Brewers' pen is in rough shape tommorow. Suter, Peralta, and Hader are all likely unavailable. Williams would be on day 3, so I'd assume Counsell will try to stay away from him.

So Alec Mills, PLEASE do not suck tomorrow

Also saw tonight was the first time Hader had ever given up 2 homers in a 9th inning.

This win doesn't make any sense, but it's awesome.

As great as this win was, and it was great, I’d still like to comment on that fact that Ross didn’t pitch Jeffress yesterday until the game was almost impossible to win, which made it so that he wasn’t available today in a game we almost really needed him in. How do you put yourself in that position?

So I was watching the replays of the two homers on my phone and for some reason, the default is for closed captioning to be on. This is what popped up during the Vargas homer and, well, I think they might need to change whatever program does the closed captioning.

Sounds pretty accurate to me

I'm pretty sure Ross doesn't see the same urgency to these games you do. Also, he is a rookie manager - he will get better. Clearly throwing Kimbrel out there is looking ahead to the playoffs though as opposed to desperately trying to win a game.

Eh. He should see that urgency. That’s why he was hired, to bring urgency to every game. Until a playoff spot is clinched that should be the case. I also don’t see how that relates to what I said. I’m not saying he should have forced Jeffress in there last night. I’m saying his decision to not have Jeffress come in to start the 9th possibly lost that game on Friday and his unavailability last night could have blown up in his face.

We're never scoring again.

We’ll win like 10-2 tomorrow so we easily win the RD but lose the series.

Well I did predict the Cubs blowout correctly today.

Cubs end up averaging over 5 runs a game for the series despite not scoring in the first 17 innings.
