6/20/19 - Mets (Some guy making his Mets debut) at Cubs (The Pitcher Formerly Known as Chat-suck) - 7:05 CDT - WGN

Posted

So the Cubs split the series with the 'not so good' White Sox after facing Ivan Nova and Lucas Gioloto. They pound one pitcher and get dominated by the other. One would think it would Gioloto that dominated the Cubs' bats. But it was the sad-sack Nova the Cubs couldn't hit. And yesterday against soon-to-be All-Star Gioloto, the Cubs' offense whipped out their dongs.

So in come the Mets for a 4 game series. And the Cubs offense is back on track, right? Well, to quote a highly-respected baseball savant:

Come on you guys know how baseball works. We light him (Gioloto) up for like 8 runs in 4 innings tonight and then score 3 runs total in the Mets series.

It would be nice for the Cubs offense to continue what they were able to do yesterday. Hit dongs / score runs. And the Mets starter - who??? I mean, this favors the Cubs, right? Well, to quote another highly respected baseball savant:

Just looked and saw the Mets are starting some rookie pitcher I've never heard of tomorrow. Throws phone into toilet.

Rizzo's been mashing of late. Schwarbs has been mashing of late, Willy with a breakout game yesterday. Baez hitting liners and laying off pitches in the dirt the past few games means he's do for a hot streak right? All of this against a "some-guy" pitcher. Well, to quote another baseball savant:

There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.

I'm not buying it for this game or the series. The Cubs are just too hot an cold. And would be fitting for them to go cold against a couple of junk pitchers in the Mets' rotation. Besides, as I type this at 8:30 AM on gameday, I look out my window and it appears to be overcast. Even thought the game is not for 10 1/2 hours, I live no where near Wrigley Field, I have not checked in with Accuweather for tonight, I will quote a highly-respected weather forecasting savant:

I doubt they get this one in. And even if they start the game, probably won't be able to make it past a few innings."

So yesterday's game thread got the ol' sad face poop emoji. But I'm not buying the bats coming to life two days in a row. I'm thinking the offense is till poopy. So to quote anotehr baseball savant:

There's an old saying in Wyoming - you know when you put lipstick on a turd, at the end of the day, it's still a turd.

So the Cubs' offense is still a "poop" in process. But on this morning, they're a happy "poop".

Gotta say this is the first time my name and 'baseball savant' have been used in the same sentence without sandwiching the words 'will never be a' in between them

It looks like Summer will finally come to Chicago after the next few days.

So based on my meteorological abilities, expect 3-6 inches of snow on Saturday.

Bravo

WHY IS DANIEL DESCALSO STILL ON THIS TEAM

Someone's gotta take him away from Joe as an option. Anyone want to Nancy Kerrigan him?

WHY IS DANIEL DESCALSO STILL ON THIS TEAM

Someone create a list of all of the middle infielders who signed with other teams this past offseason.

We'll probably all have rage strokes and drop dead.

We can't get the full Aaron Miles Part II experience from him if we just cut bait now.
