Descalso makes me dislike him even more by how he forces the creeping desire to rather see Russell start over him. What an absurdly useless ballplayer.

Descalso this season: .197 .287 .295

Aaron Miles in 2009: .185 .224 .242

With CarGo in the mix as an outfielder, it gives them even less reason to play him (or Russell). Bote should be playing second a majority of the time, give Russell the rest of the ABs.

This is even more amazing when you consider that he woke up on May 1st with a line of .263 .349 .408

Numbers since (65 PA) .107 .203 .143

For reference, Yu Darvish's career slugging is .169

Didn't they also both sign the exact same 2/5 deal as well?

I remember being livid that the Cubs got rid of DeRosa saying he cost too much money at $5m/per and turned around and gave it to Aaron "it's Miley!" Albeit it for 2 years instead of 1.

2009 were dark times. 2008 really was spirit-breaking. Hendry made some really bad moves that offseason but we actually did seem cursed so I kinda get it.

To add to your dislike, a gentle reminder that Russell is playing at a ~4 fWAR pace extrapolated to 500 PAs. Descalso will be lucky to get to above replacement level.

oh my god my stupid eyes saw the squiggly and thought it was a negative sign, nevermind

I will say Fangraphs projects out to a ~2 fWAR for Russell with some regression. We shall see, but regardless, on purely baseball moves, he should be out there over Descalso's corpse

How did you arrive at that? He has .6 fWAR now, you can't get to negative numbers by extrapolating a positive WAR at the moment?

Descalso is at -0.5.

I think Descalso is the Cubs genius Idea to get fans to wish Russell would play more

Who the hell is the old white dude on death's door step that they've been interviewing on TV for the past 5 minutes? At work and can't have the sound up.

an old white dude who landed in Normandy, went through France, fought in Belgium at Hurtgen Forest, and then in the Ardennes at the Battle of the Bulge.
