Is there any reason they are playing so many games away from Wrigley to start the season? I like it from a weather standpoint. Are there any more stadium issues as far as construction goes or is it just the way the schedule played out?

I wanna say that its just the way the schedule worked out cuz ive heard nothing about any of the renovations. I love all the warm weather cities to get us started, though.

Hopefully Ricketts didnt need a home game or two first to be able to afford all the travel, though.

Think its just the weather. This is the second year in a row where we've had a 3 city road trip before our home opener. I think even the Sox are on the road for 2 series before their home opener at the end of next week.

Remember last year when we thought the Cubs kicking off the season in warmer weather/domed/roofed stadiums was going to unleash early DONG HELL on the world?

I'm pretty sure they've had a standing request with the league to start out with at least two series on the road each season to accommodate finishing touches on the renovation projects

they started with 9 in a row on the road last year

And they were held dong-less until the first pitch of the season! And then again until like September.

Though, let's face it, it's gonna have to be a permanent thing going forward because of...

This is going to be another tough year, but should be fun. I think it will come down to the cards and cubs, which is how it should be. The Brewers will have to out slug everyone to repeat what they did last year in my opinion. The division is going to come down to how well the cubs pitching does. The Cardinals scare me this year, especially since they still have assets for a big move in July if needed. I still can not believe they got goldy for basically nothing, and he kills cubs pitching. Oh well, hopefully the Cubs remember how to hit this year and they can make another run in the playoffs!

Well, part one of my plan seems to have been completed - quietly sit back, had perhaps, the lamest, weakest off season ever, and get healthy,

part two was come out with a vengeance, build an early lead, blow the NL Central away.

Love the added image of Bryzzo on the video board. Not a big fan of Schwarber not being trusted against a lefty in an AL park. I'd like see him get chances to improve there this year.

Nothing says production over potential and taking every game seriously like having your 7th or 8th best OBP guy in that collection of names leading off

Just for those keeping track, here's what Almora did against LHP last year:

.295 .340 .402 .742

And they're who he is supposed to be BETTER against.

Man I am usually so excited about the season starting. I am so meh on this years Cubs team, Mark Zagunis AYFKM? Way to slam the window of contention shut, guys. A total debacle over the past year or so.

I am excited to see Javy do Javy stuff though.

Knowing him, he'll do something ridiculous, like hit a really hideous triple, and then every horsefeathering meatball will look that ONE horsefeathering AB as the reason as to why he should be leading off when anyone else makes literally one out hitting from the top spot.

What's the over/under on the total number of weak GB's from Heyward, Zagunis, Almora and Bote? 12?

Kris Bryant: "Hold my beer."

"No, seriously; please hold it. I have the shoulders of an 80 year-old man."
