And of course this one made possible by a bullpen implosion:

Underrated one.

Cubs hadn’t really gotten going yet. Looked like they were playing well but then went 2-5 against the Reds and Phillies including getting swept at home by Philly. Up in the ninth but the pen blew up and KB saved us. Cubs took off from there.

I'm not going to even bother to look if I can find it, but our boy Neifi Perez hit an extra innings grand slam in St. Louis one year that was delightful. Edited by Brian

Also not technically a Cubs home run, but he put us into the 1998 Wild Card game when he walked off the Rockies against the Giants.

Yes now that Dusty isn't forcing him into the 2 spot every game I can appreciate the many (ok like 3) good things that Neifi has done for the Cubs

The series after that game the Cubs swept the Giants (in a series I love because LaTroy Hawkins had a hand in blowing every game), and I believe Neifi had at least 2 big hits in that series, including a walkoff. I only remember this because I was at the walkoff game with a friend from out of town who is a bit quirky with his baseball fandom and was talking all day about how Neifi was his favorite player and every time he's gone to a game that Neifi played in, he's had a big hit. And sure enough he did.

Just about all the ones I would've said are taken. I particularly have love for Schwarber's blast in Pittsburgh, one of very few times I yelled "OH MY GOD" like as the ball was hit. Javy's parking one off Lackey (already posted) on a pitch that was off the plate outside was a great 'HOLY horsefeathers' moment.

Russell's Game 6 slam always gives me the fuzzies because it reminds me of how the secondary ticket market for Game 7 absolutely exploded over the next hour and I knew immediately that Cubs fans were going to take over Cleveland the next day.

Montero's slam will always be kind of underrated - I think our collective psyche (mine, certainly) was shaken after giving up the lead in the top of the inning and that was another "nope, we're awesome, get ready" moment from the playoffs. While on the subject, Rizzo and Russell both breaking out of slumps with big dongs in Game 4 of that series, in LA, are also in that category.

I still haven't completely wrapped my head around the fact that of the 3 Cubs walk-off slams in my lifetime (shouts to Jason Heyward), I was in the bleachers for 2 of them. Bote's was already posted, and I was also there for Soriano's in 2009.

One hipster choice I have is a random spring training homer Javy hit in 2014 that went like 420 feet to nearly dead center, and I just remember seeing how hard he hit it and just bursting out laughing at how much power he had.

Yeah that one was so unexpected especially after he missed a meatball the pitch before and the count was 0-2. So awesome.

are you talking about length or is it more of a girth thing? you have categories for soft and erect or is it erect only? im gonna have to put on my thinking cap

This was the moment I knew we were going to the World Series. Bonus points for crushing Kershaw's hopes.

ive always loved the weird crooked hand thing he does in this clip, you can tell how tense he was

Yeah, that probably has to be number 1 for me. The Cubs were 0-7 in their last 7 NLCS games, with the previous year's sweep fresh in our minds. The dodgers had what, their third best starter going and we had Lester--who wasn't just really good that year, but a lefty facing the dodgers who couldn't hit any lefties at all. So much so that didn't the giants just call up a few random minor league lefties for a series and shut them out the whole weekend that year? If there was ever a must win game early in a series, I felt like it was that one with Kershaw and Hill ready for Games 2 and 3.

We have a 3-1 lead that game that while not great, felt somewhat comfortable knowing we still had another lefty in Chapman to shut it down. They load the bases with no outs in the 8th. Now I am freaking out. Chapman comes in and strikes out the next two batters and I feel good again--we are actually getting out of it. Then Gonzalez ties it with a single up the middle. One of the most awful feelings I have ever had. Then to have Montero up in the big spot felt like it was pointless. I don't know if I have ever gone from so miserable to so happy so quickly. I couldn't fall asleep and just stayed up until 2 a.m. watching the highlights over and over again on MLB Network.

I think i remember the one you mean, as sick as that is...it was off rob scahill. i can't find a damn clip of it online anymore, but apparently javy sees the ball quite well off rob scahill, because

I sorta remember that one too. The one I'm remembering was in a televised night game against the Rockies, to damn near straight away center. I remember the backdrop being this CF batters eye

also, if we're talking spring training dongs, this has to be tops:

Yeah I also felt the same was in Game 5 when it was 1-1 in the 6th with Lester going thinking we can't waste a Lester start with Kershaw and Hill going the next 2 games. Thankfully some player hit a 2 run HR and then the bats busted out for a fairly comfortable finish.

Also, I do recall that about the Giants. Also the Cubs swapped out Seal Boy with Rob Z for that NLCS just in case they needed another lefty. I don't think he ended up pitching though.

Also regarding the Miggy HR: Never forget that Dave Roberts elected to walk Chris Coghlan with runners on 1st and 2nd and 2 outs in a tie game to bring up Montero. His logic was getting Chapman out of the game but damn did that not work out for him.

Posted
Is it possible that Willy was available and the Dodgers had a lefty up and Roberts was (probably) thinking that Montero was just coming up the the plate so that he'd bring in his lefty and then Joe would counter with Willy? So they both just stood pat waiting for the other to make there move and neither did.
