What's our leads on the two Wild Card teams? Like, we are locked into a second Wild Card at worst, right?

Pretty much based on the lead we have and all the H2H games the other teams have.

LMAO, why would they schedule a game Thursday wth this on the horizon. Just schedule it Oct 1 if it needs to be played like the Pirates/Marlins just did. Or if MLB feels it needs to be played immediately move it to Milwaukee to make sure it’s played.

Yeah, hopefully in the end, this is PPD even before the Cubs board a plane back to DC.

I’m guessing the argument is that since the NL WC game is on Tuesday, they can’t be prepared for a scenario where the Cubs make up the game on Monday, then potentially have a Brewers/Cubs tiebreaker for division on Tuesday, pushing the WC game to Wednesday on the same date as the AL game with the NLDS starting on Thursday.

It could look like this:

Monday - Cubs vs Nationals in Washington

Tuesday - Cubs vs Brewers in Milwaukee

Wednesday - Cubs vs Cardinals in Chicago

Thursday - Cubs vs Brewers in Milwaukee

At least the travel Tu-Th is minimal in that scenario

Anyways, the chances of all of that coming to fruition are very very small. Enough that it doesn’t make sense for the Cubs to report to the ballpark 30 days in a row down the stretch of a pennant race

Also, if MLB insists the game needs to be played before Oct. 1, and if DC weather prevents it on Thursday, then Washington should play at Wrigley as the home team. I seem to remember the Rays or Marlins playing the Brewers at MIller late last season for the same reason.

Strasburg isn't pitching until Wednesday. Today's starter is going tomorrow. Has to be good news no Schurzer right? Thursday

Seeing on twitter it could be Ross on Thursday with how they just bumped everyone back a day

Lots of whining going on. Sure, the rainouts suck. And maybe MLB execs crapped the bed a bit. But should the Cubs really even be in this position with three weeks to go???? They were supposed to run away with the division if not for incredible inconsistency, underperformance and some bad luck due to injury.

Where is Duke or David to tell everyone not to worry?

Yep, good news for us if they just bump it back a day.

Good news for the Cubs either way. I feel like a rainout today is better than a win. I don’t care if they reported to the ballpark. No one threw a pitch. As long as nobody destroyed anyone else’s boom box this is a win. Probably washed out again Thursday = double win. Pitchers get ridiculously needed rest.

The screwing over happened 13 months ago when this year’s schedule was released. This is the baseballs gods granting mercy,

Cubs should lobby to switch Wednesday/Friday night/day games. I’m sure the Brewers would flip out, and I’m sure the city won’t let it happen, but I’m banging that drum like crazy if I’m Maddon.

I think thet could do the Wednesday switch pretty easily but the Friday switch could be hard because you’d have to get city/neighborhood approval I’d assume and those two are always jags to deal with

The Brewers would flip out if we changed the start time by 5 minutes. Imagine if they were in our shoes? Stearns would have sounded off long ago.

They basically had Friday and Today off and sat around and did nothing in the Clubhouse..

All the relievers had today off..

Cubs have 3 pretty good starters going up against the Brewers at home, these next 3 days..

They don't step it up and win this series , they have noone to blame but themselves

Maddon needs to quit being cute with the lineup and all, and play these 3 games like their playoff games

They are on pace for 95 wins and have the best record in the league and 3 game lead in the L column with ~20 games left, that isn’t insignificant. Maybe they’re getting there a little differently than expected but they’re still headed to about where we all thought they would be. It’s just been extra annoying and this scheduling mess should allow us to whine, it’s stupid as horsefeathers.

Wednesday should be the obvious one to switch.

And you know the Brewers go nuts. Win/win.
