It was me that posted that, but it's against board rules to post here bc it's behind a pay wall.

Ok well anyone here can go find it. That’s probably the best Bears piece I’ve read this offseason. Maybe my favorite part is this:

What Trubisky did during his rookie season was special. He transcended the hindrances of his supporting cast to be one of the most accurate passers in the NFL. Only Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Marcus Mariota and Dak Prescott eclipsed his 59.8 depth-adjusted accuracy percentage last season.

The Xs & Os of how this offense works, complete with videos, are top notch. Really gives you an idea of it’ll cut down the reads Trubisky has to make.

Mack will inspire double teams anytime he steps on the field. If Mack is in there, I want Roquan in there, too. One thing Rodgers has been good at is eluding pressure and taking off. Roquan's closing speed is going to turn Rodgers first down saunters into 4th downs.

It doesn’t come down to stuff like this usually I know (especially when one team has Rodgers) but how many of their position groups would you take over the Bears? QB, TE, CB, safety? I certainly prefer the Bears WR, RB, LB, and DL. I prefer the KC scheme to what the Packers run, and I prefer Fangio’s system to most.

i would take Burton over Graham and PFF does not think highly of GB's secondary also

Yeah I was trying to give them the ones I thought were close in an attempt to seem like less of a homer. I honestly didn’t know who their second safety was and after seeing the 40 grade from PFF I’m taking Jackson/Amos.

The corners, again I like what the Bears have especially considering that Callahan is a good nickel, but they spent a first and two seconds on corner over the past two years. That PFF article basically considers them as unknowns, so they could be better or worse. The nice thing is that this will be their rookies’ first game and you’d think Nagy will do his best to confuse them.

TE I’m not sure but I’ll give it to them for now, since Graham had 10 TDs and Lewis had 5 last year and is supposed to be a pretty good blocker.

Still, I think position by position looks good for the Bears. The one I’m most curious about is the o-line. Hopefully Nagy can help out the Bears with heavy sets, misdirection, screens, and quick hits. And hopefully the Packers are a disaster. We hear every year for the last couple that the Packers line is injured or whatever and then they curb stomp the Bears D. This is obviously the best shot the Bears have had to win the matchup in quite a while.

As a Packer fan, I have a LOT more hope for the Packer's D. I think the secondary has a decent chance to be one of the better units in the league. That said, yeah, I'm worried about everything on the offsense that isn't named Aaron, and I think the Bears would have playoff buzz if they were in any other division in the league. -9 also seems insane.

I feel pretty good about this game, even though objectively it's probably the toughest one on the schedule.

The first 3-4 weeks of the year are generally the most prone to weird stuff happening, especially the last several years since the amount of practice time teams have during training camp has been limited. A game that in November would be a 70/30 affair is probably closer to 60/40 in September. Beyond that, we have the Nagy factor. We know his offense is going to have a lot of unique and interesting looks. I could see the offense being pretty monstrous early this year, even if we ultimately look back on it as a flash in the pan.

On the flip side, Smith, Floyd, and Mack are probably not going to be at 100% effectiveness this week, which really sucks since I'm sure Rodgers is going to come out in full terminator mode after missing so much time last year.

i became a big fan of Mack the first time i heard about this anecdote (SIAP)

He chose to wear the uniform number 46, an unconventional number for a linebacker, as a motivational reminder that his true potential was not being recognized - 46 was the overall rating assigned to him (out of a maximum of 99) in EA Sports' college football video game, NCAA Football 11

This is a good interview. He says his hamstring is better and while he’s obviously not giving anything up he seems to me like he’s confident he’s going to play a lot.

At 2:13 you’ve got this response to how he’s coming along with the playbook. The look he gives when he says “very comfortable” looks like some good confidence to me.

It’s very similar to what I’ve done at Georgia, it just was the terminology though. So I feel very comfortable though that, like, I have all that really.

Hoping he’s giving the honest answer and that an honest answer from Mack would sound about the same.

Hicks was being interviewed by the Green Bay press yesterday over the phone. Said that no one GB has can block Mack. Then you hear Mack laughing in the background. Nice!

The Bears got Mack because the Raiders thought that the Bears would give them higher picks than the Packers or Rams would bring. Probably true, but I’m happy that another team devalued the Bears. Did the Jets actually offer two #1s because I’d wager the Jets will be far worse than the Bears the next two years and their picks would be higher.

Man I miss the NCAA Football games

I do not believe the jets offered 2 1s

Yea, as best I can tell, of the whiddled down list, the Bears were the only to offer up 2 number 1s. If there was another team willing, it probably didnt make the cut down of "potentially sucky teams"

Based off of some things that Cobb has said recently, I think the other team to offer two first rounders was the Packers.

I have a feeling Mack is going to play a lot. Not sure about Roquan

I definitely want Smith in there on third and longs. His closing speed can turn a typical scrambling Rodgers first down saunter into a 4th down instead. He might need more time studying the playbook, but his instincts should be just fine.

Most Packer fans are dismissing the Bears, given recent history that's understandable. However, I've a feeling they're in for a big surprise, as bad as they think/want Trubisky to be he simply isn't. The Bears will probably make some mistakes but, they are going gash the Packer defense like something we've never seen before.

Defensively, don't know how much we can expect from Mack and Smith, as mentioned above would be nice to see Smith on third downs. A few early run downs and hard hits on Rodgers when he scrambles might discourage him from doing so later in the game.

It should be noted that Fahey is very high on Trubisky and is the author of that article Thrillho was talking about a page or two ago.

Schefter supposedly said on the radio yesterday that he drafted Trubisky in both his leagues. Never heard of him being a noted Bears homer.
