You can cheer for a player and be happy about the positive results they produce without having it change your opinion of the player and how good they are. Albert Almora sucks against righties. His basic numbers have almost always, April-June 2018 aside, sucked against righties, and his peripherals have always sucked against them. If he plays and performs well, awesome. But we shouldn't ever plan for it.

Zobrist raking against righties doesn't help. Move Heyward to center.

Ichiro, is the only player in MLB history who has put up a .380 BABIP and >50% GB rate in a season. From my 3 min looking on fangraphs. But yes because Almora did it for a small sample we should keep pushing our luck.

I'm not saying Almora is Ichiro, or that he will continue with those numbers.

Though it is funny that you all predict his success against righties OR lefties on a really limited sample size (he has fewer than 500 career PA's against righties, and all of 267 against lefties).

And now I've become the Almora defender, which I have no intention of being. Oh well, Go Cubs

Much like BABIP regresses towards .300, L/R splits tend to regress to a player's overall mean. Almora playing versus righties is fine, especially with how banged up the roster is right now. And lineup doesn't matter unless you're doing something actively harmful, like batting the pitcher at cleanup.

Tl;DR stop whining about Almora, if he's comfortable batting 1 or 2 that is probably worth more than the .1 runs/game it costs us over an "optimal" lineup.

Not sure who to blame more for this one: the guys that re-signed Duensing and haven't cut him yet or the guy dumb enough to let him pitch in a 1-run game.

I blame duke silver for giving up before bote had a chance to tie it
