Asking these clods to win is too much with this moron on the mound, but anything can happen.

The Cubs seem to rise to the occasion when he pitches. They've won his last 4 starts and are 10-8 overall when he pitches. They will win in spite of him.

Let Chatwood pitch to the first batter every game of the playoffs. World Series guaranteed.

People complain a lot but let’s appreciate that:

1) Cubs are in 1st place in the NL Central

2) Cubs are in 1st place in the National League

3) We likely won’t have to worry about a coin flip playoff game

It hasn’t been pretty but 26 teams would love to trade places with the Cubs. Let’s hope they make some depth moves, heal up in September and dominate October.

As much as I hate that we traded Godley, the guy we got for him hit one of the biggest home runs and biggest singles in the history of the franchise, so there’s that.

Godley was a complete nothing prospect who already had TJS on his resume, right?

Welcome to the Anti Chili Dong Tracker. Chili Dongs are great and all but sometimes the classic Dong knows how to hit the spot. We are below league average in Dongs and I know we are craving some. It’s getting late in July and it’s time for an onslaught of Dongs.

Next time I update this I will organize it better, but it’s a little harder on my phone. I’ll probably swap out games for at bats. S F T is for Last 7-15-30 games. I already typed it out so columns were straight, too lazy to adjust to get the 15-30 even so I went with letters.

Maybe this is the start where Chatwood turns in a late-2003 surprise Shawn Estes gem

Not a whole lot of options right now with Javy in DL limbo, I think the only way you sit him today is Heyward in Center and Zobrist in Right, or LaStella in the infield and Happ in Center. But I imagine the plan is to get Zobrist as many off days as possible to keep him fresh, and it's not like Tommy is lighting up the ball right now.

Literally everyone in the lineup but Chatwood is a better option to hit 2nd over Almora vs RHP. Zobrist out vs RHP is dumb too. He should be in RF and Heyward in CF today. Zobrist has been a lot better vs righties vs lefties this year and putting the guy with the worst walk rate on the team not only in the lineup over him but also hitting him second against a guy with a Chatwood like BB/9 is just dumb. We’ve treated this series very nonchalantly and haven’t optimized much of anything.

This is all true. Its weird how unsatisfactory (I can only speak for myself, but I suspect many also feel the same way) it feels but at this point the Cubs are in a great position. I think theres just been some real rough starter luck here, with injuries and poor performance all around.

But hey, they're likely gonna have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs so, roll them dice baby

Throughout the NL playoffs, but yeah agreed.

We’re in a good place in our fandom when this season feels kind of like a let down. There’s a lot of games that would be extremely memorable in other seasons.
