No seriously. If you're going to set off fireworks while my infant son is trying to sleep because your piece of horsefeathers baseball team finally made the World Series, I hope the whole team gets dysentery and can't even take the field next week.

the amount of cubs hating I have seen on the facebook tonight is so delicious. I love every bit of it

The amount of L flags posted and people loving Puig down here is hilarious. Cards fans are sooooooo mad they've been booted out of their perceived rightful perch atop the Central. I'm loving every minute of it.

There's a simple explanation here.

When the Cubs beat the Giants last year, they absorbed the power of the "even year".

then explain the 92 wins, division championship and NLCS appearance. The Giants never got close to those things in odd years.

I don't wanna. That's not as fun as the dumb "even year" thing.

Even years: win World Series

Odd years: lose in NLCS

Cubs just don't tank as much as SF in the odd years.

Yes. The Giants were a bad team and subsisted purely because of BeliEVEN magic. The Cubs now have Even Year Power, but are also good. So we will be good every year, but the only sure thing is that we will win it during even years.

This actually made my morning.

I posted that a couple days ago in the cards thread because I was going to be arguing with idiots down here that think it's gospel.

Yep. The only one that slightly concerns me is Schwarber. If I went through what Russell went through this season when I was his age, I probably would have had a rough year at work too.

Yeah I have my worries but it also was his first full year ever in the majors after missing an entire year of any baseball.

Schwarber

Minor league career (621 PA): .463 wOBA

Rookie year (273 PA): .364 wOBA

Pre-demotion (261 PA): .294 wOBA

Post-demotion (225 PA): .377 wOBA

After the demotion he was shielded from LHP, having only 17% of his PA against them and putting up a .328 wOBA against them. If you add on additional PA at a .275 wOBA until the proportions are more normal(~25-27%), then his post-demotion wOBA is about .365, just like his rookie year.

Defensively, Schwarber has a +5 UZR in over 1100 innings, and DRS says he's -12, which is a pretty big disparity. If you split the difference and even round down and call him a -5 defender, his performance outside April-June has him as a 3+ win outfielder. That's basically what Domingo Santana was this year, and there's also the possibility Schwarber progresses further offensively and/or defensively(getting more reps and being further from the knee injury).

The Schwarber has to go narrative is nonsense.
