I just really hate the dodgers

I was really enjoying watching the $300m team blow it in the playoffs every year. I guess blowing it in the world series is almost as good.

Welp, have at it, LeonDurham and gobigred.

We are a really good team that didnt play very consistent all season and are getting beat by a better team...nothing more to say slugger

Frustrating as horsefeathers but what can you do. They are not playing well and don’t deserve it.

I think my ideal offseason would include Toronto's GM having a bout of temporary insanity and trading us Stroman for Schwarbs. Plus signing Otani, of course.

When they trade schwarber he will become big papi. I’ll hold out hope for DH in NL.

Yep. Sucks living in LA. Plus I was in NYC for a wedding when the Mets eliminated the Cubs in 2015.

Why can't a team from like North Dakota be the one eliminating the Cubs?

Screw the Q/Verlander thing, I want to know if we can trade for this Willie Mays Taylor guy midgame

I'll ask

they said ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTAYLOR

not sure what that means

Did you offer Zagunis, Julianna Zobrist, and the years supply of Lackey’s Breathsavers he didn’t use???

they didn't seem to be dissuaded by Zagunis, that lady with the cookie monster fur coat, and a box of urinal cakes

Every GM every year has work to do. It's their job.

There is no major flaw with this team. They won their division and reached the NLCS for a third straight year. There is stuff to clean up. But this team came awfully close to winning another World Series, despite flaming out in this series.

I agree with you Duke, but this team did have a major flaw (the bullpen) and it was exposed during the postseason. The bullpen needs to be revamped in a major way. We shouldn't bring W. Davis back and need to get rid of Rondon and Grimm. The only ones I want back are CJ, Strop and M. Montgomery.

The bullpen wasn't a major flaw, it was 3rd in the NL in ERA. Having a collective freakout in the postseason isn't indicative of poor design, no more than the offense struggling means that the position player group needs to be overhauled.

I get that the bullpen was sporting a good ERA in the NL and I knew some posters would bring that up.

I still had very little faith in our bullpen before the postseason started and think I was right. I mean I know I'm right now... W. Davis and CJ were trending the wrong way going into the playoffs. Strop looked very erratic. Lackey in the bullpen is just a terrible idea unless you use him strictly as a mop-up guy. Rondon is Rondon. J. Wilson looked terrible in his brief time with the Cubs. B. Duensing is okay.

I mean I understand you could run this group back and they'd probably sport a good ERA again collectively, but that doesn't mean I have faith in them come postseason time...

No way. Schwarber is going to fully armed and operational next year. Plus Russell will have his breakout season.

Schwarber

Bryant

Rizzo

Contreras

Happ

Russell

is going to be dongtown USA.

I don't know about Stroman, but there has to be someone willing to pay big for a 40+ HR DH. Schwarber is one of my favorite players on the team, but he is worth more to an AL team than he is to the Cubs.

Get what you can for Schwarber ...he gave us some great memories but the AL is a better fit for him and I would think we could still flip him for someone of better value

Russell and schwarber were disappointing but you have to think they are going to get better. Contreras is on a great trajectory. Happ and Baez are also still really young. Think about how good Turner was at 24.

But the offense which was so bad this series is set next year.
