I think the Mets might need a little boost of Tebow Time...

oh horsefeathers he's going to heal their entire roster isn't he?

The Nats have scored 23 runs so far. 7 homers. Anthony Rendon is 6-6 with 3 homers, 5 runs and 10 RBIs.

I immediately went to look at how big his stats for the season are with such a huge game.

He now has......three homers and 15 RBI.

I did too and noticed that the Nationals have top 3 RBI guys in MLB right now and obviously none of them are Rendon. They are scary good even with Eaton out for the year.

Girardi jockin Maddon right now.

Mitchell pitched the 9th down 2 runs, Yanks tied it in the bottom half. Joe has mostly depleted his pen and Aroldis is pitching the 10th, so they're gonna bring Mitchell back for the 11th if it goes that long.

Mitchell caught 1 of the 2 balls he attempted to field.

Apparently they lost the DH doing all of that, too. So they managed to play an AL ballgame with two pitchers in their lineup at the same time.

I personally was wondering if he still had anything left in his arm... heh.

Raised his OPS by 200 points today.

He also cost me 2.5 categories in fantasy. Would have won 2 more and tied a third if he goes 6-6 with 4 2B instead of 1 2B and 3 HR.

The Nationals are 17-9 and have the biggest RD at +45, which means their record is pretty much right on their pythag (16.4 wins).

For comparison, last year the Cubs were 20-6 with a +93 RD at this point (pythag 21.6 wins). So even after 3 blowout wins in the past week, the Nats RD isn't even half what our was at the same point last year.

Sam Holbrook is an idiot.

I don't know if both teams were warned before the game but Gausman hit Bogaerts in the second inning today and Holbrook immediately ejected Gausman. Problem is, the pitch was a 77 mph curveball. I get that there have been a few beanballs/attempted beanballs between the two teams and you want to keep things under control but this is some LaRussa logic. If it was a fastball, sure, eject him. But it's a curveball. Think about it for a second before you go and toss a pitcher.

The fact that there is even a bean ball culture that the umps have to navigate is the problem here. Adults throwing at each other like giant babies is so beyond stupid that it's amazing the number of people who defend it

There can be two problems...

1. Bean ball "culture" that has mostly been perpetuated by the Red Sox in this instance.

2. Umpires with no brains.

There were no warnings before the game. Personally, I loved that they flashed a graphic right before the HBP showing Gausman has thrown more balls than strikes to that point in the game. Complete stupidity by Holbrook.

Watching the Brewers at Cardinals game, there's nobody at this game. The actual attendance can't be much more than 10,000.

A ton of rain all day, cold, flooding everywhere with multiple road closures, and to top it off they moved the game to a night game instead of a day game. I'll give them a pass on attendance tonight.

Yeah, it's a nightmare south and southwest of the metro area. I-55 and I-44 both reopened early this morning after being closed for several days.

Ross is the color guy for the Cardinals/Red Sox game....he isn't doing too bad from the few minutes I watched. He probably can't do Cubs games though because he needs to be unbiased and the anger the team would have towards the booth would be too much and would probably end in some Kent Merker/Steve Stone scenario

Wonder what he said about Fowler's leadoff HR

Last nights Blue Jays v Braves games was a horsefeathers show.

First Pillar gets mad at Jason Motte for quick pitching him (and gives him the Andrew Shaw / Kobe special)

Then Aaron Loop (Fun fact: in his last 4.2 innings of work, he's hit 4 batters.)

Hits Freddie Freeman on his wrist (It was a check swing) and he is probably injured, at the very least, til All-Star break.

To top it all off, down 3-8, Jose Bautista hits a solo shot, bat flips, and becomes apologetic somewhere between 1st and 2nd.

They still have 1 more game in the series and there is a 90% chance something dumb happens again today.

Pillar also used a homophobic slur there aimed at Motte.
