Carlos Martinez' final line: 5.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 8 BB, 11 K, 118-71 pitches strikes. So he threw 47 balls, 32 of them were on walks and he scattered 15 to the rest of the guys he faced.

That is very strange.

Second time in three starts with 115 or more pitches this season per Keith Law. What is Matheny doing?

Fairly certain he has no idea either.

In the bottom of the ninth of Nats-Braves, CB Bucknor ruled that a pitch that the batter missed by 6 inches was a foul ball. Would have been a strikeout to end the game. It ended up not mattering but the Braves were only down 2 and had the bases loaded so it easily could have. The players were shaking hands and some of the grounds crew had come onto the field.

CB needs to be put out to pasture. Pretty much everyone is agreeing that it was the worst called game by an ump in a long, long time.

That is awful.

Also, it always struck me as funny that MLB.com hosts videos that show things like their umpires blatantly horsefeathering up a call.

CB Bucknor at it again. He was the third base ump, this ball was hit to left field and he called in an out before getting overruled by the other umps.

Listening to the radio and they said that every off season, they ask managers to rank the umpires, and Bucknor and West are ALWAYS the worst two on the list. Stupid ump union....

The Murderer's Row Brew Crew are putting a whooping on the Cards in the first. Babe Shaw with a homer. Roidy McBeardface with a hit.

I know Thames was tested the other day. Doesn't it take about 6 weeks for the results or at least until action would be taken if there's a positive test. I know players can find out and then appeal before anything becomes public, but does anyone know the process/timeline?

That bullpen kid for the Brewers, Jacob Barnes, looks like he could be a beast. He got the save for the Brewers tonight.

Yeah his FB/Cutter combination appears to be really solid and he has great velo/movement. He looks like a goober though, especially with his sprint in from the bullpen.

Anyone see Carlos Martinez's hair tonight? Seems like something the Cardinals would complain about if he was pitching against them.

@Bestfansstlouis is all over this.

I saw that after I posted and Martinez started pitching poorly, good stuff. It is a really awful look but of course BFIB take it to another level. If he has that same hair when he pitches against us next I hope Maddon complains that it's affecting the batters seeing the ball (results the last 2 games beg to differ) just to horsefeathers with him.

Jett Bandy with a home run, too! I still refuse to believe he actually exists even though I know we just played against him.

This dude's name sounds like he's from the deep south and destined to be a BFIB favorite one day.
