I often stay up late to catch one more Mike Trout AB before going to bed. Last night was the third time this season he has rewarded me with a HR in that last AB. This one was to RF and was beautiful.

Starlin Castro with a 3-run homer to tie the game in Pittsburgh. He's off to a great start this year with 4 HR, 13 RBI, batting nearly .380, over.400 OBP, and an OPS right around 1.000.

All things considered, I'll take my chances with Addison.

Straily had a hell of a night

14 Ks on just 97 pitches, 73 strikes

I'm still amazed the Padres have won 8 games

You shouldn't be. They have Trevor Cahill and Clayton Richard atop their rotation.

Huh?

Kole Calhoun is a major league outfielder. I thought it was a made up name, too.

Thames homered again.

He has a 1.000 OPS

Oh, sorry, he has a 1.000 SLG, and a 1.503 OPS

He's making it too obvious.

I'm just hoping he won't be suspended until the ASG so I can swap him as my WC pick in the HR derby

Eric Thames has 10 home runs, 7 in 5 games against the Reds, and 3 in 14 games against everyone else.

SLG down to .910. Clearly slumping

Maybe I'm overly credulous, but I don't think he's cheating. I think this is just one of those weird runs that occasionally occurs in MLB. His OPS going into tonight what almost identical to Bryan LaHair's through 70ish PA in 2012.

If he's still doing it in June, good for him.

Chris Coghlan started at 3B tonight for the Jays, good god are they a dumpster fire

He started there on Friday too against the Angels. Committed a really bad error in the bottom of the 13th as the Blue Jays nearly blew a 3-run extra inning lead.

The Rockies, who you might recall from such hits as 'what if we gave up the number 11 pick to sign a middle infielder to play 1B' and 'why are all our players breaking their bones', are now 5 games clear of the Dodgers and 7 clear of the Giants in the West. Fangraphs' projected standings has them set to tie the Cardinals for the 2nd wild card.
