Harper lauded Schwarber and fellow NL teammate Javier Baez, who he called “one of my favorite players in all of baseball” for his flair.

“Just the way he plays, his swag and the way he plays the game, the way he uncoils and the way he thinks,” Harper said. “He told me up here before the thing, he says, "Hey, do you think if I get tired on the right side, I can hit on the left side?

“I was like, ‘Man, if you do that on the left side, that would be epic.’ I wish he would have gotten a little more tired because I would loved to have seen it. Just great being on the field and having a lot of fun being around the guys enjoying that.”

How dumb am I that I hope Harper signs elsewhere and the Cubs use the ~$350MM to address other holes and extend current players? That could get you 9 Tyler Chatwoods!

He called him “schwarbs” on sportscenter. Clearly they are best friends looking to have fun in the outfield together next year.

Bryce has more friends on the Cubs than Addison Russell has kids.

there aren't that many cubs

What does 2 months of 2018 Bryce Harper get on the open market next week? Is there any chance they'd consider trading him?

There's a lot more talk about this in the last couple of days. At least from media arguing whether they should or shouldn't. No real rumors or anything.

I still think for whatever reason, the Nationals chances of resigning him lessen if they trade him. It does occasionally happen but for every Chapman there are a few Lester situations where the incumbent team trades their guy with plans to resign him in the offseason and he goes elsewhere. With that said, I think by keeping him the chances of them resigning him are worth more than whatever return they can get for 2 months of him.

I guess it depends on if they think they have a good chance of re-signing him. I think he's probably gone, regardless. I have nothing to back up this opinion.

Honestly, if I were the Nats, why not get a silly amount of prospects and value here instead of like, a draft pick.

They still have a realistic shot at the playoffs but I’d do it

I was told I was insane when I mentioned it a few weeks ago.

a few weeks ago, most probably thought the Nats would have caught the Phillies and Braves by now.

Fangraphs still has the Nats with a 57% chance of making the playoffs.

Unless the Nats know something fangraphs doesn’t know - like maybe Strasburg is toast for the year - then it would make more sense to add and try to turn the thing around than to sell.

Dodgers rumored to have offered Puig for future Cub Bryce Harper.

That's a clown offer, bro.

Offer Jason Heyward (WAR 1.5) for Harper; Puig only has a 0.9 WAR this year. JHey still has a no trade clause through this year though ...

He's going to the Dodgers for a pile of trash, right?

Realistically the Nationals have to be hoping for someone to make an insane offer right?

Alright, what would it take and would it be worth it?

Ideally a 3 team trade where some combo of Happ, Almora and Monty and prospects go out and we end up with Bryce and a starter. But just for Bryce, Caritini is like the most I’m giving up off the MLB roster and I’m not trading Amaya for him

To make a deal for Harper, the Nationals would have to be overwhelmed and get everything they want -- a front-line starter and more -- a source told Kurkjian.

He's not going anywhere. The Nats are gonna hold out for too much. I think they're just doing this so they can tell fans "well we tried".
