Man, I hope we get good Javy at the plate tonight.

He's so fun to watch because (among obvious other things) you can follow along with where he's at in his approach so easily, just from his swings and how expressive he is. The last couple games he was taking those early pitches, hoping to get ahead, and you could see signs of frustration when he was passing up on middle in fastballs. And then he figured out the two strike approach on those curveballs, taking two back up the middle, so that's encouraging. His ability to just put contact on the ball and his speed is big. And then that last at-bat he got into a two strike count and they went shoulder high fastball, which was a great pitch given everything else, and he swung under it, but you could see him nodding to himself on the way back.

I doubt we're getting all-star Javy back tonight, especially against the pitchers he's going to face, but I think the 0-4 with 4 Ks stretch is probably over.

I'm ready for Dex to go Chris Young and start this thing on the first pitch. Let One Pitch Kluber wallow out on the mound in the inevitable for the rest of the night.

I got Dex with a nice long AB resulting in a walk followed by a Schwarbomb.

I was reading an article on greatest Game 7's today and it made me wonder why Gene Larkin's walkoff hit in the 1991 World Series is so underrated. When you hear about great World Series walkoffs you hear about Joe Carter, Edgar Renteria, Luis Gonzalez, Bill Mazeroski, Carlton Fisk, even Kirby Puckett the night before. Heck I couldn't have even told you who hit the walk off before I read the article. The story of that game was Jack Morris throwing 10 shutout innings for sure but a world series winning walkoff hit in Game 7 is about as magical a moment as it gets and its hardly talked about IMO.

I think it's because of the pitcher's duel but let's not talk walkoffs please

btw guys first pitch was moved to 7pm instead of 7:08...i'm guessing because of the threat of rain later.

I'm sure 8 minutes will make all the difference.

You'd think Fox would have loved the 19:08 narrative.

Because Cleveland is in the eastern time zone?

Do you guys know what the deal is with the wrigley bars tonight?

Cover charges still? On one hand, it's a road game...on the other, it's horsefeathering game 7

I thought someone said a page or 2 back that there were $100 covers

Go to G-Man Tavern just past The Metro. Drank there all last weekend. No cover and $4 beers. They were taking donations for a local charity at the bar but that's it.

This. Is. It.

After tonight, there will not be another meaningful baseball game until next April. No matter what, the season ends after this game ends.

I love this team, I love what they've been able to accomplish and I know there are many great things still in their future, but damn it, I feel these Cubs are going to go out there tonight and win this motherfucking thing going away and send Chicago into a party that won't end for days! I want to see them bat-flip the dongs, stare down the K's from the mound, and scream their horsefeathering asses off at every opportunity all night tonight and then I want to watch as they, and the city of Chicago, celebrate the biggest horsefeathering sports win that any of us have ever seen or will likely ever see again!!

Go you motherfucking Cubs!!!! Kick the Indians and their stupid mascots ass and let THEM become the team with the longest World Series winning drought!! Show the world that the Cubs are baseball's best team! Leave no doubt!

PS - I love you guys!

EDIT - And I haven't even started the REAL drinking yet!

I think the most annoying thing about the media narrative today is how the focus is on every pitcher that will throw today except Hendricks...who might just be the best option of all today.

I'm not counting hours until the game, I'm counting hours until we're World Champs. With a conservative estimate of 11 PM end time, we are less than 8 hours from ending the drought officially.

I was crazy busy today at work, so didn't think much about the game at all. Now I get to spend 3 hours driving to/from softball practice (and being at softball practice), which gets me home just in time to eat dinner and see first pitch
