there's not a [expletive] thing on this earth short of a hospital that would keep me from watching a cubs potential world series clinching game

Maybe I'm just old and dead inside, or maybe I'm haunted by the fact that we were bad in 2012, but this stuff just doesn't feel as transcendent as it did when I was a kid or even in my 20s.

If they win in game 5 while I'm out doing other things, I'll check my phone and see that they won and be happy. I'll watch all the replays and buy some merchandise and read the threads.

Hell, if any of the games I'm home for turn into a five-hour extra inning monstrosity, I might just wait till the morning for the end of those too.

If this is how you feel, what the hell are you doing even posting on a Cubs message board?

My wife has a work thing Tuesday and won't be home until after the first couple innings. So we're having the babysitter put the kids to bed.

The question is do I go straight to a bar from work and wait until they are asleep before going home, or sit in my living room and ignore the kids as they go to bed like some kind of Mad Men dad?

This article begs the question

A) you are a huge lifelong Cubs fan, and are at the NL clincher

B) your good friend is on the AL Champion

Would you root for the Indians as he claims his friends are going to be?

I don't think I would.

If I was a player on the Indians, I would expect my whole family to root against me in this series and I would be OK with that.

I don't even understand how you could both, at the same time, want to buy WS merchandise but be totally fine with missing the clinching game.

Not to mention, choose reading threads on a message board over watching.

Joe West.

Also, it looks kind of like Game 1 at least will be rained out.

Which way do they rotate? In other words, will West be behind the plate at any time in the series?

Joe West will make sure he's behind the plate, because Joe West looks out for one guy-Joe West.

Angel Hernandez went from behind the plate to RF, so if that holds he's at the end of the line and available behind the plate for game 7.

I will have to do radio for Game 1 because of work and won't even be able to do that for most of Game 3, also because of work. Stupid adulting.

I know this sounds stupid, and my perspective would obviously change after a while, but right now, like 80% of how badly I want this to happen is just so that I can wear my damn World Series shirt the entire time I'm in Vegas in 2 weeks.

This ought to rile White Sox fans up

I'm not sure if its been posted in any of these threads, since we want to keep the positive energy. I wont quote or hyperlink, but the posts on WSI - Cubs subforum (For some reason this exists) have been so butthurt and boderline suicidal lately.

Man prices are dropping for games in Cleveland and now the weather isnt cooperating...looks like lots of rain Wednesday

Rain Thursday too. That will be interesting...

Thursday's a travel day though.

Right...but if it's rained out on Wednesday, Thursday would be the likely make up day. If it rains both days....then it will be interesting to see how they handle it.

the suggestion being that a rain out wednesday won't be able to be made up Thursday, which would affect when games are played in chicago (not to mention the usefullness of Jon Lester)
