This ought to rile White Sox fans up

I'm not sure if its been posted in any of these threads, since we want to keep the positive energy. I wont quote or hyperlink, but the posts on WSI - Cubs subforum (For some reason this exists) have been so butthurt and boderline suicidal lately.

I don't know if they've actually gone out of their way to do this or they are just trying to sound cool, but several of them are talking about how they bought Indians gear on Sunday in preparation for the World Series. Not only does that sound stupid in general to buy another team's stuff just because they are playing a rival of theirs, but its the freaking Indians, division rival, and I'm not sure how bad the rivalry has been lately, but as recently as the early-00's were hated rivals.

So I think about the other side of things, a very similar situation happened in 05 and I never once bought, thought about buying, or even had a passing through about the prospect of buying Astros gear. They too were in-division rivals, although the Astros never had a particularly strong rivalry with the Cubs other than a couple of individual seasons like 98, 03 and 04. I just don't get that mentality.

there's not a [expletive] thing on this earth short of a hospital that would keep me from watching a cubs potential world series clinching game

Maybe I'm just old and dead inside, or maybe I'm haunted by the fact that we were bad in 2012, but this stuff just doesn't feel as transcendent as it did when I was a kid or even in my 20s.

If they win in game 5 while I'm out doing other things, I'll check my phone and see that they won and be happy. I'll watch all the replays and buy some merchandise and read the threads.

Hell, if any of the games I'm home for turn into a five-hour extra inning monstrosity, I might just wait till the morning for the end of those too.

ok, this edit confirms you are trolling because not even you can be this much of a lame ass.

You're only saying that because Kanye's not in town.

Great Joe West will be here to make sure we know that Joe West is an umpire in the WS. Joe West.

Joe West.

Also, it looks kind of like Game 1 at least will be rained out.

Which way do they rotate? In other words, will West be behind the plate at any time in the series?

Angel Hernandez went from behind the plate to RF, so if that holds he's at the end of the line and available behind the plate for game 7.

Does the Replay ump jump the line?

no idea how it works other than how they referenced that somebody who was in the booth was on the field for game 6 and that angel h went from HP to RF.

Ted Barrett worked RF game 1, and was HP for game 6. Paul Nauert worked HP game 1, and swapped spots with Bill Welke as replay ump at some point. So West would work HP game 6, Holobrook game 7.

Pinch me. Still getting used to seeing, FINALLY, a Cubs WS game thread on NSBB! I don't think it'll seem truly real until I see Dex digging in against Kluber amidst all the World Series logos, and realizing that these two teams are the last ones playing.

Also seems poetic that when the Cubs get through the LCS and win the pennant, they're facing an "old timey" AL club. In 1984 it seemed destined they'd get a rematch with the Tigers, their last WS opponent. Then 2003 was lining up for them to meet either the Yankees or Red Sox; enough said. Now it's finally a thing, and they get the Indians, bearing a drought of their own, whose last champion starred player-manager Lou Boudreau, himself later a longtime Cubs broadcaster.

I don't know what to feel or how to think about this one objectively, the mind still reels that this is actually happening. Go CUBS! :yahoo:

If this is how you feel, what the hell are you doing even posting on a Cubs message board?

who else is there for him to communicate with

the song is pretty catchy, even though its 'hastily made'

so who can give a scouting report on the Indians? I know Kluber, Salazar and Miller, and only Miller am I afraid of. However, hasnt he been over pitched?

and what about their offense?

It's challenging for me to wrap my mind around the idea of a person making 30,000+ posts on a Cubs forum, yet be okay with "doing other things" instead of watching them win the World Series.

Perfect. Put Kyle and his 1.32 home ERA back on the mound at Wrigley in G3, where he'll be facing something called a Josh Tomlin who allowed 36 dongs in 178 IP this year...

We're going to skull horsefeathering these fucks, aren't we?

I just realized I would miss game 5. Sweep please

I'll be missing game 4. No sweep please.

Don't punish the rest of us for your inability to get your life in order.

and what about their offense?

They scored the 5th most runs in the league. 7th in wOBA, 6th in wRC+. Very good offense. They are also very good on the bases.

Lindor, Kipnis, Ramirez, Santana, Napoli, and Naquin are all very good hitters. Guyer was also very good this year.

Yeah, Cleveland's a really good team. This should be a very competitive series. I think we shade it, but we're not going to just steamroll them.
