One more superlative I just thought of: the Cubs have won as playoff series in the previous 2 seasons as they had in the previous 113 years of modern franchise history (1901-2014)

Hell, it is the first time they've been in the NLCS or better in back to back years since 1906-1908

Javy would like to thank Javy, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, that guy who turns double plays with me, the red face pitcher and his dad who's also a catcher, Javy, the nerdy looking guy who pitched tonight, the big dude who came over from Cuba who can throw a 105 mph fastball and play outfield, and those others guys.

I think Javy knows Kyle's last name now. He was grabbing Kyle's jersey to look at it when Joe brought in Chapman.

When a reporter posed the question that Cole just shut down the best team in baseball, the Pirates pitcher politely corrected the statement:

"It's just an opportunity to salvage the series," Cole said. "I don't really think they're the best team in baseball."

Ken Tremendous was a little optimistic

And but of course those he wished a pox on won a World Series since then, and he got to cheer for it.

Tough to find a weakness in Cleveland, besides their rotation, but getting Salazar back is huge. Hope he doesn't have the feel for his change-up.

That team has positive values on offense against every pitch, particularly sliders, curves, and change-ups. They hit lefties and righties, play great defense, and were better than us on the bases this year. Obviously we need to get to their starters and avoid Miller. These teams are so damn good from top to bottom. But i have faith in our guys and our coaching staff and the analytics guys behind the scenes to get it done. I cannot wait to watch our guys lift that trophy!

Someone explain where the 3 am nickname came from.

MESA, Ariz. -- Take a guess which Chicago Cubs player manager Joe Maddon said this about:

"[He's] one of those dudes who can get up at three in the morning and hit anybody's anything. He's that good of a hitter."

I assumed it was a reference to that terrible Matchbox 20 song in the 90's.

He also predicted the Cubs would win the 2016 World Series in the final season of Parks & Rec.

I'm not going to take the time to find the spot in the thread, but when Addy doubled in the 2nd, he did this little motorcycle revving thing toward the dugout. They all just have so damn much fun out there.

Also, I'll go with what CubmanPi suggested here. soccer10k is still up until the Cubs lose a game. Then we'll start one as Fred. If the Cubs sweep, we'll do opening day 2017 with Fred.

Mojo would be giving up his spot in the rotation to allow this to happen. Would it make sense for him to be the one to draft the OP and PM it to a mod who can use it to edit one of Fred's old posts? Is that making it too complicated?
