Also, I'll go with what CubmanPi suggested here. soccer10k is still up until the Cubs lose a game. Then we'll start one as Fred. If the Cubs sweep, we'll do opening day 2017 with Fred.

Mojo would be giving up his spot in the rotation to allow this to happen. Would it make sense for him to be the one to draft the OP and PM it to a mod who can use it to edit one of Fred's old posts? Is that making it too complicated?

I'm happy to step aside and let the mods handle it.

I don't know why I didn't put 2-and-2 together, but when Dexter Fowler steps in the batter's box to open up the World Series, he'll be the 1st African-American Cubs player to play in a world series game.

Funny, I actually had a similar thought today. Insane to think about.

Game 4 I came home and had my last beer. Then I switched over to scotch. Eventually the Cubs were way ahead and I fell asleep in the 8th or 9th. Game 5 I made sure to do the exact same thing. Tonight my liver gets a break, but tomorrow it's back on.

Game 6 I made sure to the exact same thing. Tomorrow my liver gets a rest, but Tuesday it's back on.

Though I've been lurking here since at least the Nomar trade, I just recently signed up, and this is my first post.

Last night, after the final out, I was just sort of in shock. But today, I've been a sobbing wreck. They did it. They won the horsefeathering pennant. And we all were here to witness this glorious event.

I'm now off to be disappointed by The Walking Dead.

Watching the replay and just now coming to the realization that the Cubs faced the minimum batters for the game. Two singles and a walk is all the pitchers gave only to retire them via the DP or pick off.

If brought up earlier forgive me as I'm still coming down off a massive alcohol fueled euphoria

Tribune LOL

by the way, there's a great gallery of pics from last night at the tribune. they're high res. and you can make them huge with the URL trick i've mentioned before (where you just change the resolution in the URL)

not sure how to directly link to the gallery but it's the first thing on the page

Incredibly classy move by Dave Roberts to not challenge the call at first on the final play. If it's a one run game, he would've (and should've) but down five runs, he showed great awareness and class by not upsetting the moment. Kudos, Dave.

Yeah, I posted a while back that it is only the second time in postseason history a team has faced the minimum. The other being Don Larson, of course.

Posted this is earlier in another thread but gonna add it here too:

When the Cubs win this series I will gladly pay someone to get me a copy of the next days newspapers. I will be in Chicago the week before Thanksgiving and can certainly meet to pick it up, or if you prefer you can ship it to me at my expense.

I bought an extra copy of the Chicago Tribune today. If anyone would like a copy, feel free to PM me. (claimed by cubscott34 via PM)

It felt like you could count on two hands how many times we whiffed, and mostly they were from Kyle and Javy. We fouled off a ton of fastballs and just looked at the curves. It was an extremely disciplined and focused approach.

Hahaha, one of the guys from Modern Family is sitting in the first row and looks to not be happy about the Rizzo HR.
