I love Lester and Baez sharing the MVP for this series, but I think Hendricks was as good or better than Lester.

You know what.....this is actually true.

Hendricks- 12.2 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 4 BB, 11 K; 0.71 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, 7.81 K/9

Lester- 13 IP, 9 hits, 2 ER, 2 BB, 9 K; 1.38 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, 6.23 K/9

Hendricks was better across the board. I think the difference here is Lester's team won both his games (he only had 1 win though) and Hendricks got an L in game 2. But considering Lester vs. Maeda x 2 and Hendricks got Kershaw both times, I definitely would have given the MVP to Hendricks.

And honestly, as good as Javy was offensively and defensively in this series.....Rizzo was the Cubs best hitter. Started 0 for everything and ended with a 1.000+ OPS in this series. Also, Fowler led the team in hits, runs, and tied for 2nd in RBIs in this series.

Basically what I'm saying, this was a real team effort as it has been all year.

I'm somehow more emotional reading/listening/watching everything this morning than I was last night. I think it was too unreal last night...I don't think it had sunk in.

same

I just celebrated last night. This morning I rewatched the 9th and the shots of people crying got me teary eyed as did listening to the radio highlights.

i had a dream where the results of the game were in limbo for some unknown reason. i've felt amazing since i woke up.

Yeah, I also had dreams about it...I woke up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding and that rush of adrenaline I've had since the playoffs started. And even knowing they won, I couldn't immediately calm down.

There was a lot of satisfaction in seeing the tiniest bit of trouble start to flair up with five outs to go and going straight to the overkill of 103 mph protecting a five run lead.

There was a double play groundball also with 5 outs to go.

So many emotions for me. Yes, a few tears of joy were shed. I had the opportunity to watch the game and celebrate with my Mom. I thought about my Cardinal loving grandmother -- who actually is responsible for me being a cub fan (she and my mom listened to Harry on the radio; when we got cable TV in the 80s my mom found harry. Mom and I were hooked. The rest is history).

Had early morning coffee with my best friend, who is also a cubs fan, and it was smiles all around. . . finally sinking in. We're world series bound!!

Why do I love that Dave Martinez is a part of this?

He was randomly one of my favorite players when he was with the Cubs. Unconditionally loved the guy for some reason.

Really cool post that has video links to all 7 local Chicago TV stations breaking into their programming to announce the Cubs won the pennant. Also 2 radio stations.

It is kind of fitting (sadly) that Kyle had the better numbers but still not the full recognition.

And on the Roberts not challenging the last play -

A) as we learned from the Cardinals you only have like 3 seconds to challenge an end of game play, because reasons so he may not have reacted fast enough

B) As much of a spaz as he appeared at times this series, he's probably got more respect for the game than that. Although I'm sure there are instances where it's happened he'd still be down 5 with 1 out to work with and 1 guy on.

If there is such a thing called the Hall of Fame thread forum, this thread would, without a doubt, be unanimous induction into that.

I'm still kind of in a weird place where I don't know how to feel and it hasn't fully sunken in yet.

It might take the whole offseason to process. The 1908/1945 dates are something that we've all been raised with in our heads. One of those has been erased, and the other could/should fall too. I can't just flip a switch in my head.

Yep, it's a paradigm shift. Some of us grew up enduring decades of "when the Cubs win the World Series" as a common punchline. (Hi Johnny Carson!) Young kids today are on the verge of growing up with them as perennial postseason stars. It's... different. Feels like the earth's rotation has been reversed or something.

Thanks for sharing. I really liked the WBBM one. Breaking with the special report graphic, then cutting straight to the mayhem on the field and letting it speak for itself gave me serious chills.

Tim, it's more curiosity, but why is the game forum no longer public?

The board was getting flooded by traffic (and some nefarious efforts to bring it down) during the playoffs and it was causing the board to lag and crash, so for the time being people have to be registered to access the game threads.

Yes, exactly what Sofa said. I've made it really easy to register these days, so it isn't a big hurdle for people to get across in order to view the game forum.

Also, I'll go with what CubmanPi suggested here. soccer10k is still up until the Cubs lose a game. Then we'll start one as Fred. If the Cubs sweep, we'll do opening day 2017 with Fred.

Figured as much. Thanks for the vigilance and taking care of this little village.

Can someone tell me how I can share an instagram post here? Every time I try my preview says content unavailable.

Your account is probably private. I had to make mine public to share mine here.

i'm rewatching the game from my DVR and without commercials or any stress this thing is flying by

In the top of the 6th now, and i feel like it's been about the same as a LA Baez inning
