Almora is extremely bipolar when it comes to L/R splits in the minors

2016 (minors)

OPS v R: .784 (233 AB)

OPS v L: .598 (87 AB)

2015

OPS v R: .681 (315 AB)

OPS v L: .876 (90 AB)

2014 (AA)

OPS v R: .638 (118 AB)

OPS v L: .435 (23 AB)

2014 (A+)

OPS v R: .689 (254 AB)

OPS v L: .764 (113 AB)

Not sure if we can tell anything by those splits

On the other hand, splits mean nothing when he's also hitting RHP better than Heyward.

Start Almora.

If the Cubs win tonight, I wonder if this would be the first time in history that a team won a 5 game series with a different catcher starting each win. I suspect that it would be. Very few teams would even carry 3 catchers in a playoff series, let alone start all 3.

If there were a game to NOT start Heyward in this series, this is not it. RF in San Fran is large and not easily learned. Combined with the fact that Heyward has looked good the first two NLDS games and had an 890 OPS the last two plus weeks of the season, I think you'll see him out there.

Seriously just give us the line-ups already so we can be happy because all of the options are amazing.

He has? He had one double that he ripped down the right field line, but that is his only hit, and I don't recall him looking good outside of that at bat.

I just think that we are assuming that replacing Heyward with Almora gives you the exact same defender. Almora is a fantastic fielder but Heyward has the instincts and experience from being a visitor playing here for 7 seasons. There are a lot of quirks on that side of the field that make it less than ideal for someone making their first start, in the postseason in a likely low scoring game.

What are the chances that one of those quirks come into play? I don't know. I just know I'd feel more comfortable with Heyward in there, but at the same time wouldn't be THAT upset if it was Almora.

Give me Soler and his multitude of dongs.

And someone remind me why our left handed catcher is starting against Bumgarner?

because arrieta is pitching and montero be framing

Then give me Ross.

I think it's a comfort level thing with Arrieta. He's more comfortable working with Montero. What Jake wants, Jake gets.

Wait. Does this game start at 8:30pm CENTRAL time?

Yup. horsefeathers the west coast. I want the Nationals to win their series for so many reasons, but ESPECIALLY this one.

The NLCS games will be starting around 7pm central time regardless if it is Washington or LA.

Good. The west coast can still eat my taint with their ridiculous time nonsense.

Most likely, unless the Red Sox come back and win the DS; they'd probably get a few primetime slots.

Go Indians.

True so maybe one of the NLCS games starts at 330pm which would suck unless it was a Saturday or Sunday.

Dates with both LCS going

Sat 15th ALCS#2 and NLCS #1

Tues 18th ALCS#4 and NLCS #3

Wed 19th ALCS#5 and NLCS#4

Sat 22nd ALCS#7 and NLCS#6
