Matt Moore is a decent enough, hard throwing lefty. Killing decent enough, hard throwing lefties is our thing that we do.

There's also the fact that Joe Maddon managed Moore during his best years, so he's going to know him inside and out.

Hopefully Sofa is OK. He was surprisingly absent throughout last night's game.

He's a veteran enough poster to know when to avoid NSBB like the plague.

Or maybe he was watching the game at a local tavern, and when he treated the reactions of his fellow patrons to his patented brand of high-brow snark, it didn't quite go so well.

The ending of this game sucked hella hard, but I wisely avoided the 13th which saved me much heart break. I kinda knew the Cubs wouldn't do anything because their at bats in extras were horrific, though I saw they threatened in the 13th. But aside from Kris Bryant giving you everything the offense did absolutely nothing over 13 innings, and I was feeling increasingly uneasy with each successive Montgomery inning.

I'm not that mad with Maddon really. I didn't like Arrieta for another inning but he gave you a good 6th. I probably don't like pulling Strop with 2 out and no on for Wood - that struck me as a little over managing and mattered - exhausted the pen early.

But all of that is moot if the offense does absolutely anything against a Bumgarner who clearly isn't on his game. Can't manage your way into hits.

It sucks that Jake's HR and KB's HR have to go along with Sosa's and K. Wood's in home runs I loved in losing efforts.

I don't even have the heart to dig up Pat and Ron's call of them, but if they won I'd probably listen to it on loop all day.

How he handled Chapman was bad but outside of that, not sure. My blame goes 100% to the offense who scored 2 runs in 8 innings against an awful bullpen.

My blame goes 100% to baseball, where horsefeathers happens and you can't win 'em all.

They went 2-11 with RISP, it's been a problem all year. You extend that lead to 3 when Bumgarner leaves the game and they're on a flight home right now.

To me the big killer, after not scoring with runners on 1st & 3rd with one out early in the game, was the Ross GIDP. At that point I had a feeling the game was over.

Yes. Those were really the two biggest opportunities of the night. Javy watching that 2nd strike float by just ruins me. I don't know how he didn't eat MBs child with it

I think this team needs to forget about what they've done for the past 7 months and start taking advice from online experts

looking forward to joe's post-game comments where he talks about taking ski's advice and made sure all the players panicked and horsefeathers their pants before the game in order to get that elusive W.

More likely its Joe explaining why the Cubs decided to forfeit Games 4-5 because they were convinced by online experts that the series was over and they had no chance of winning.

Mostly I'm just disappointed that we didn't get to have that amazing game with those awesome highlights for ourselves.

I just love the meatbally "They need to start driving in more runs if they ever want to win" nonsense, like they don't know that's how you win ballgames and as if it's something they can just do on command. Like they're not already trying to do that? Hitting a baseball is harder than it looks.
