So Joe: Hammel shouldn't see an inning in the playoffs and if Seal douche has to make the roster, he should never be within smelling distance of 3rd base.

hammel can see innings...just not as a starter

He gave up a homer on the first pitch. I have no faith in him as a reliever either.

Do you think a starters potential ability as a reliever is related to how they do in the first inning of starts?

Jason Hammel is the only Cub I actively hate because I feel like he decides to suck to spite me personally

I have it on good authority that this is exactly the case

Remember who you're talking to. Any sample size bigger than the previous 3 pitches need not apply.

Anyone who gives up on any game after 1 inning should really just sit back and enjoy the ride a bit more for a team like this.

Maybe bring him in after his first pitch?

Montero pulling himself above the Mendoza line securely feels good, from an aesthetic standpoint (I'm still agnostic about having him on the playoff roster)

I mean, if Miggy can establish himself as a sort of Daryle Ward-type lefty power bat off the bench, he's a valuable piece of the roster.

I'm totally on board with the Hammel hate because he shares a lot of Lackey's red ass qualities without Lackey's talent. If you're getting lit up every other start and you've been bad in the second half your entire career, you don't get to bitch when you get pulled a couple innings early the occasional start where you're pitching well.

Sorry, this is a juggernaut, the standard of success is simply higher than everywhere else.

I don't get the Hammel hate, sure he can be frustrating but he doesn't seem like a total buffoon like Lackey.

As the post above mentioned, Lackey is much more talented than Hammel at the art of pitching.

Okay, well it's your own fault if your expectations of Hammel are for him to be 3+ WAR pitcher

That's not the point he was making, or at least that's not the point I was making. He can be the standard 1-2 WAR fifth starter or whatever, but if that's your role you don't get to stare down Joe every time he comes to pull your ass in the 5th inning and then complain about it to the media after the game.
