I keep forgetting we've got Nathan and Aaron Crow. One of those 2 or Matusz should factor in at some point. Pretty solid job of acquiring flyers.

What's the eta on Crow and Nathan to start making appearances in AAA (or wherever they may be sent)?

no clue on Crow, but Nathan seems to think he'll be seeing AA after pitching Friday and again next week

I'm actually a lot more hopeful about Nathan than Crow. However, I still want to sign this guy.

According to Heyman, Holland is targeting an August return, which would make him eligible in the playoffs. Do it, Theo, make it happen.

I'd love to sign Holland, especially if we could retain his services for next year, too. I was unaware that he is planning on returning this year.

I suggest changing the thread title to "Brian Matusz: Another Bosio success story?"

I don't think Bosio is going to fix him from his seat next to Maddon.

The talk here is that he's a done deal back to the Royals. But, it's just that. Talk.

Arizona Phil:

Also, recently-signed LHRP Brian Matusz threw a 25-pitch bullpen side-session yesterday before the "sim" game at Riverview Park and both he and Mesa Rehab Pitching Coach Ron Villone seemed pleased with the result, and so he will probably move-up to AAA shortly. I suspect he probably has a 7/1 or 7/15 opt-out clause in his contract, though, so that he can walk away if he is not added to the Cubs MLB 25-man roster by the opt-out date (whatever that may be).

As long as he can throw a baseball, he's better than Richard so adding him to the 25-man by then should be no problem.

yeah, if he doesn't make the 25 he's probably not making any teams 25 man.

Not true at all. Non-contenders have the luxury, such as it is, of using big league roster spots for storage. Contenders can't do that.

Pitched yesterday in AA, struck out 6 in 3 innings. I saw Brett also posted the club is stretching out Clayton Richard, because sure why not.

hopefully they mean with an actual medieval torture rack

Just released. Thanks for sucking to make the win better in the end. Team guy.

And for allowing me to see Jake pitch on Saturday. He was the only starter I didn't see in Chicago last year.

I can't find confirmation of this anywhere, where did you read it? Not that it wasn't expected.

**edit found something on Bleacher Nation about it

CCO. Gonzalez evidently reported it.

Yup, thanks. I guess maybe they call Patton back up. It's weird that he's had so much success in AAA but not much at the major league level. There should be a spot open on the 40 man with Matusz coming off, why not bring Rivero up? He has a full slate of options right?
