I always wonder if they have a kid at home or something. If I were him, I'd be wanting to bring it home to my son or nephews.

But I'd probably give it to the rando kid just to avoid that exact situation.

You shouldn't give it to the kid to "avoid the situation," you should give it to the kid because that was clearly who was supposed to get it.

Yeah, sorry, I mean more a generic foul ball situation.

If you were one of the people who (reasonably) got very angry at a short video clip appearing to show an adult Cubs fan intercepting a ball meant for a child, you can stand down. The man, it now appears, is a good guy who does not deserve this at all, and indeed gave away every ball he got—including, earlier, one to that very same child.

Its been flooding here and on my way home today I legit would have been hit by a falling tree if I were 5-10 seconds earlier. It was the craziest thing Ive ever seen and maybe the most genuine "HOLY horsefeathers" that ive ever screamed. Anyway, about 10 minutes ago I check my twitter and see one of my college buddies that lives in Chicago wrote to me that he has a Javy bobblehead for me and needs my address and its easily the highlight of my day, I can't tell you how excited I am now.

I was at the game today, got in line about 25 minutes before the gates opened, and they literally handed the last bobblehead out to the person right in front of me. Oh well, I can live without it, but it does suck to be right at the cutoff line.

Im afraid to think about what I would have done in that situation.

What gate did you go in? My friend got there at about 5:10 according to him and was one of the last ~20 or so to get one, and he went in the main gate.

I went in the Gallagher Way gate. In hindsight, that was the wrong choice.

It's August 1st and he's a legit MVP contender right now, this is insane.

a league MVP with the worst qualified walk rate would be really funny

it also goes a little unnoticed, but having Baez available to play 20% of your SS innings like he has, instead of needing to roster Mike Freeman/Tyler Saladino types makes the team so much better

Posted
he should probably be playing more than 20% of the innings at ss.

Russell has played on a 3+ win pace, struggles and all. That's perfectly cromulent.

He’s playing the right amount there for as frustrating as Russell has been he’s still plenty valuable and the margin isn’t small on defense between the two at SS. What shouldn’t be happening is Zobrist/LaStella playing over him at 2B vs RHP while Almora plays.

Russell's...OK. But Baez's freakish ascension shouldn't be stacked unfairly against Addison not living up to expectations.

Right, but I don't think Russell is keeping Javy from playing more and Russell is still valuable and plays the SS position better than Javy does.

Yes, I was agreeing.

For the advance stats gurus: what combo wins us more:

Russel ss Baez 2b

Or

Baez ss Happ 2b

Or

Baez ss Bote 2b

Or

Baez ss Zobrist 2b

We'd have to know what is happening in the OF with those choices
