cropped_heltonfake.gif

i mean in the bad way not endearing way

what im saying is i wanna hate him but as far as i know he's just a good player on the cardinals which tbh should be enough evidence

I think the whole salsa thing is pretty horsefeathering stupid

Oh come on, you'd love it if it was a Cub thing.

On the other hand, yeah, he's a Texas guy and buddies with Arrieta so he's likely a bible thumping weirdo. Also, if you can't hit anywhere in the lineup but the 1 spot, you're not an MVP.

I know RBIs are dumb but I still want Javy to get like 130 of them. He's really becoming Manny-esque at the plate.
RBIs aren't dumb. Comparing players based on them is.

I want my middle order hitters to rack up 120ish RBIs.

I believe the whole "RBI's are dumb" is a mantra that's way overdone. Like virtually any other stat it just needs to be examined in the proper context. Looking at any stat in isolation is a recipe for mis-evaluation.

he's been very good at driving in runners, fwiw

Matt Carpenter is having a more valuable season than Javier Baez, but that'd just make it even funnier to listen to the bitching if Baez wins MVP.

i don't really agree here, he's mostly hit a ton of solo HR but WAR just gonna assume he's actually produced a lot of runs with his .600 SLG which isn't the case

and also the ball takes four seconds to get to first when he plays 3rd

The national broadcast of one of the Cardinal games spent like three innings talking about the salsa, including the people in the booth eating it on air

Their WAR difference is .4 - that is pretty meaningless.

while i wouldn't say half a win is meaningless, it's actually a difference of .8

On the one hand, that gangly goober almost certainly makes really horsefeathering boring salsa. On the other hand, salsa horsefeathering rules, so I can't really fault a team for salsa-related shenanigans, or extended innings-long discussions about salsa.
